Calderas[edit]
History[edit]
The settlement Ald'Ruhn was built around the carcass of Skar, an ancient Emperor Crab that was slain by the united tribes and a long-forgotten hero of legend.
Prior to the founding of Ald'ruhn, the Chimer were nomadic,[76] organized into tribes that later became the Great Houses.[77] Skar, a fearsome Emperor Crab, was a relentless natural menace in the region of Vvardenfell. In response, the First Ashkhans from the Ahemmusa, Erabenimsun, Urshilaku, and Zainab tribes united to confront this menace. Dranoth, a member of House Hleran, emerged as a hero wielding the mighty spear Calderas to vanquish the Emperor Crab.[74][75] House Hleran settled near Foyada Drura for a prosperous, peaceful life. However, when the successors of the First Ashkhans came to power, they turned against the Hleran, forcing them out of the Ashlands.[76] Dranoth's and Calderas' name and legend faded from memory over time, surviving only as a faint recollection.[74][75] Among the Ashlander wise women and loremasters, Calderas' wielder became known as "The Unsung."[78]
At that time, it was nothing more than a fragile relic, marked by the wounds of countless battles. Too aged for practical use, yet still possessing potent symbolic significance.[79]

Moon Beasts are creatures liked to the Dark Heart, birthed from darkness and resembling large armored felines, with traits similar to those of lesser dro-m'Athra.
Lorkhaj's Moon Beast[edit]
—Amun-dro[1]
The Moon Beast is an appellation of Lorkhaj, referring to the beast born from his Dark Heart.[2][3] It prowls the edges of the Lunar Lattice, preying on Khajiit who stray too far from the Path.[1][4] From the depths of Lorkhaj’s heart emerged the Moon Beast, the first of the dro-m'Athra, a creature that haunts the fringes of the Lattice, driven only by hunger.[5] The Moon Beast of Lorkhaj was birthed by immortal spirits from guilt and betrayal.[6] When the ashes of Lorkhaj scattered across the Lattice, even the Moon Beast fell silent for a time.[5] It sways the Khajiit, twisting those corrupted by the Bent Dance into other dro-m'Athra.[7]
Ravith-morna and Zerith-var's Moon Beast[edit]
—High Cantor Viti[6]
When either a soul is wounded by the Void or two souls wounded and darkened by it meet in a manner that mirrors the myth of Lorkhaj, revolving around a betrayal and a heart that is darkened by it, the recreation of the myth can give birth to a Moon Beast.[8] A beast of "pure darkness incarnate" formed within the Void itself, a reflection of the Void-Shade of Lorkhaj born of his Dark Heart.[8][9] If formed, such a creature initially slumbers within the Void,[9] but can be called forth by the songs of the Rajaska.

Aspects of the Moon Beast are spirits that resemble the Moon Beast, though much smaller in form. These spirits could be called forth by powerful Rajaska, such as Ravith-morna.[16]
Zerith: Summoning a moon beast from Namiira's Void takes time, but we have no idea how close Ravith-morna is to succeeding. She only grows stronger and bends more to join her dark chorus while we delay." Perhaps we will find something there to help us defeat Ravith-morna. To keep her from waking her moon beast and putting all Khajiit souls in peril."
Maybe we can beat her without the song.
"Perhaps. But without a permanent solution, the Void would simply send her back at some future time and the danger would rise again. No, we need to stop Ravith completely. The threat to all Khajiiti souls posed by this moon beast is just too great." What happens if Ravith-morna successfully summons the moon beast?
"Then every Khajiiti soul in search of Azurah's Crossing will be hunted down and dragged into the Void. They would never know the peace of the Sands Behind the Stars. Even now, Ravith-morna's chorus sings to summon the beast. We must silence them."
"We have seen the Twilight Cantors to safety. We must find Ravith-morna before she awakens this moon beast.
What is that thing? "A shortcut. (to Namiira's Void) A doorway across planes. Where the void in my own heart was born. Ravith-morna will use this bypass to send her moon beast to the Crossing. To let it prey on the souls of all Khajiit and make real the dark dream of every dro-m'Athra." We can stop this, right? "I feel the truth of what Krin'ze said back in Khenarthi's Rise. My guilt holds open this door to the Void. I am ready now, thanks to you. To embrace forgiveness and close this breach. But I cannot face Ravith-morna or her moon beast alone."
"We must walk into the Dark Behind the World. Where Ravith-morna makes a den for a beast as old as light and shadow. Once we cross this threshold, there will be no one to help us. We must look out for one another."

Viti:
You remember Eifa's warning, yes? Of the moon beast Ravith-morna is summoning? I hear it growling. It stirs from the call of her chorus. Pray we are not too late to stop its waking."
Eifa:"Ravith calls forth a hunter. A moon beast to prey upon spirits on the paths to the Crossing. It will hunt them, pull them screaming into the Void. No songs can reach them there. If she succeeds, no one thereafter will ever enter Azurah's embrace."
