Death Stalks the Weak[edit]
As you approach her you can hear her :
- Khazasha: "Another mortal? You! Stop for a moment."
- Atrozu: "<nervous bear whine>"
- Khazasha: "I know, Atrozu. But we need the help."
You may talk to her:
- "Glad to see someone who's not Daedric. My friend and I need your help.
A beast lives in this citadel. The Ravener. It slaughtered my clan. Only a few of us lived. So we found our way into the Deadlands to destroy it in our clan's name." - How do you expect to accomplish that?
- "By entering the citadel they call Ardent Hope and hunting it down.
Oh, you mean how do we find the beast? My friend here, Atrozu, is…was my clan's totem spirit. He can track the Ravener. As for how to destroy it? I still need to figure that out." - Where do I come in?
- "The other survivors who came with me, they died when a Xivilai patrol found us. I'm the last of my clan. But I'm not stupid. I know going in alone only ends one way.
Join me. Help me get justice for clan Kalmur. And if we live, I can reward you." - I'll help you enter the citadel and destroy the Ravener.
- "Now we stand a chance with you here. I saw a drainage grate on the northern wall that we can use to slip into the citadel. We'll meet you inside. From there, we just follow my bear.
Keep your eyes open and weapons ready. It'll be a hornet's nest."
After you receive your task, you can ask her a few questions:
- Tell me more about your clan.
- "We were the Kalmur. Good people who kept to ourselves. We weren't raiders or bandits. Just relied on our wits and strength to survive the wilderness of Wrothgar.
The Kalmur made good mead. Sold it to nearby towns and clans. Damn, I miss that mead." - And the Ravener killed them all?
- "Pretty much. Attacked during a festival celebrating the first hunt of the warm season. Everyone drunk and tearing meat off a charred bear. I guess we didn't see it coming.
Only three of us survived. Me, Burzonash, and Uroga." - How did the attack start?
- "No idea. The three of us had left the village so I could practice my rituals. I needed to summon Atrozu to mark the festival's end. But…I wasn't sure I could.
After a few tries, he finally appeared. We heard screams soon after." - Then what did you do?
- "Ran back, of course! We were met by heaps of torn flesh and pools of blood. And the Ravener.
Mouth covered in gore, stalking through town. It tore through our hunters. I swear it was grinning." - How did you survive?
- "Atrozu ran from the Ravener. As the future wise woman, I needed to defend our totem, so I chased him. And my hunters followed me. We survived by fleeing.
I refuse to make that mistake again." - What happened to Burzonash and Uroga?
- "Together we found a portal to the Deadlands. They protected me across this miserable land while Atrozu led us.
Some Xivilai saw our fire. Stupid. They both died protecting me. Soon after that, I found this entrance. We were so close!"
- "We were the Kalmur. Good people who kept to ourselves. We weren't raiders or bandits. Just relied on our wits and strength to survive the wilderness of Wrothgar.
- Tell me about yourself.
- "I was supposed to be my clan's next wise woman. We oversee the clan's health, both body and spirit.
Now I'm all that's left. My two protectors died getting me across the Deadlands. Only Atrozu and I carry the memories of the Kalmur." - How did you become the clan's wise woman?
- "Well I wasn't one yet. I needed more training. But Atrozu chose me to fill the role.
The Kalmur did things differently from other clans. Most wise women are just the chief's mother. But long ago we decided to let our clan's totem make the choice."
- "I was supposed to be my clan's next wise woman. We oversee the clan's health, both body and spirit.
- What do you know about this place?
- "This citadel? Extremely little. I'm no scholar of Daedric lore. We barely made it here from Wrothgar.
I heard some Dremora along the way call it Ardent Hope. Seems misnamed to me."
- "This citadel? Extremely little. I'm no scholar of Daedric lore. We barely made it here from Wrothgar.
As you enter the Ardent Hope you can hear her:
- Khazasha: "Get to it, Atrozu. Find the Ravener."
You can talk to her:
- "Mauloch's breath. Look at this place! All of Mehrunes Dagon's fury on display.
We shouldn't stand around chatting. The sound could bring the entire citadel's forces down on our heads. Keep close to Atrozu. And move quickly." - How do you talk to Atrozu?
- "Part of the training to become a wise woman involves learning to hear Atrozu's voice. His thoughts come to me as images or moods.
All very mystical and weird. But he kept me company after everyone died, so I'm grateful."
- "Part of the training to become a wise woman involves learning to hear Atrozu's voice. His thoughts come to me as images or moods.
- How do you know Atrozu can track the Ravener?
- "He told me so. After the attack on my clan, once the screams faded, we returned. I needed to burn the bodies of my people, so that they could move on.
Atrozu noticed a kind of energy, I suppose. From there he began following it. Like a scent."
- "He told me so. After the attack on my clan, once the screams faded, we returned. I needed to burn the bodies of my people, so that they could move on.
As you follow the trail:
- Khazasha: "Hold on. Atrozu needs time to find the trail again."
When you tracking down the beast, you will eventually encounter it trapping Kastav. It will flee once you get closer:
- Khazasha: "There! The Ravener! Hurry!"
- The Ravener: "I cannot find it! My prey has left Nirn."
- Khazasha: "It fled! And…it spoke?"
- Kastav: "Others? How?"
Once you find Kastav:
- Khazasha: "I'll ease his pain. See if he knows anything."
You can talk to her:
- "You saw it? We got so close! That monster killed my whole clan and we let it escape.
This man doesn't have long. I'll try to ease his pain, but you need to talk to him. Learn what he knows."
After Kastav dies:
- Khazasha: "I'm sorry, friend. Look around for anything useful. I want to examine this man."
You can talk to her before and during examining the area:
- "That creature! It was the Ravener. You see how it tortured that man. The beast is capable of intense cruelty. Strange that it just ran off though. Not what I'd expect from it.
Look around. See if anything explains what happened here."
Upon examining the Ravener Claw:
- Khazasha: "Is that…a piece of the Ravener?"
Upon examining the Orb Pedestal:
- Khazasha: "The prisoner mentioned the Ravener's orb. Where did it go?"
Upon examining the Kastav's Journal:
- Khazasha: "What do those papers say?"
After examining the scene:
- "The Ravener completely drained this man's life spirit. Not only can it speak, but it uses magic as well. I thought I understood what it was. But I knew nothing.
Doesn't matter. We still need to destroy it. Show me what you found." - Here's the man's journal. The Ravener drained him for its hunt.
- "So, not just magic. Blood magic. The type that steals memories from its victims. I know it. Utter cruelty.
The man, Kastav, said it's a Dremnaken. That's new to me. But, I don't care what it calls itself. It'll take the name I gave it." - I found blood on the pedestal where that orb stood.
- "Makes sense. Kastav said the Ravener used him to power that orb it uses to hunt. And the Ravener shouted that its prey wasn't on Nirn. Blood magic could easily fuel a relic that can scry across planes.
What about that claw?" - Its shriveled and decayed.
- "The journal claims each hunt risks the Ravener's essence. He thought it looked weaker. This could be the answer—we starve it! Smash the orb. Stop it from finding prey. Kastav mentioned a tower to the north. And Atrozu has the trail again. Let's go."
If you interact with her again if you did not ask her all the questions before she will start the conversation with following line instead:
- "We still need to find the Ravener. Let's hope we learn more about this mysterious prey of its along the way. We might use that against it."
- You seemed concerned that the Ravener spoke. What does it matter?
- "During the attack, it was a vicious animal—mindless and hungry. I was prepared to hunt it the same as I would a stag or a lion.
But if it speaks, then its attack wasn't mindless. It understood the pleas for help. It meant to cause suffering." - Does it change your plan to find it?
- "No.
Before, I was putting down a feral animal so it didn't kill again. Now I know the Ravener deserves punishment."
- "During the attack, it was a vicious animal—mindless and hungry. I was prepared to hunt it the same as I would a stag or a lion.
- How do you know about blood magic?
- "Orc magic isn't the type you'll find in the High Elf fancy schools. Ours comes from the meat and bones of the physical world.
All wise women learn to use blood in their art. What better to power healing spells after brutal combat?"
- "Orc magic isn't the type you'll find in the High Elf fancy schools. Ours comes from the meat and bones of the physical world.
When you reach the locked gate:
- Atrozu: "<urgent, excited growling indicating something>"
- Khazasha: "Blocked. But see the tower? We have to find a way to reach it."
After finding the locked gate you can talk to her:
- "Atrozu tells me the trail continues beyond that gate. I just don't see any way to get through.
Look around. Maybe we can find an easier way than climbing the wall."
You will follow a trail that leads to a hole you can go through:
- Khazasha: "See the hole? It tunnels right through the wall."
After finding the hidden passage you can talk to her:
- "That hole certainly looks wide enough for us to slip through. I can't see the other side, but I say we take the chance. Can't see any better options.
Hope you don't mind tight spaces."
After you go through the hidden passage you can talk to her:
- "That worked just as we needed. Daedric security must get pretty sloppy around this area. Let's pray that our luck holds up.
Let's get into that tower. And keep your eyes open. We're deep in Dagon's territory now."
As you approach the tower you can hear the following conversation:
- The Ravener: "My prey! I sense it near. Find it."
- Khazasha: "You hear that? The Ravener. From the tower."
After you enter the Tower of Conviction you can talk to her:
- "That voice we heard came from in here. We need to catch up to the Ravener. Destroy it for good.
I don't care what gets in our way, you handle it. I refuse to let anything stop me. The Kalmur will get their justice."
As you head forward she will stop soon and exclaim:
- Atrozu: "<worried growl>"
- Khazasha: "Before we go farther, we need to talk."
You can talk to her:
- "I expected none of this. The Ravener speaks? And what's the purpose of a tower full of books?
After everything I went through to get here, I still don't understand what we face. What is this creature?" - Why do you want to know?
- "Because it took everything. My entire clan. My home. My future. All gone due to this…beast!
I don't care if it speaks or reads. Or if it recites poetry—I will see it killed!" - We still don't know how to kill it.
- "We know it's hunting prey. And it's falling apart without that. So we need to find and destroy that orb. Stop its ability to hunt and starve it to death. Perhaps I can watch it suffer.
Lead on. We're not leaving until the Ravener is dead.'
If you talk to her afterwards she will say:
- "We're deep within the citadel now. No doubt Dagon's brutes patrol every corner. Keep sharp.'
As you delve deeper into the building:
- Khazasha: "Why would the Ravener hide among all these books?"
- Khazasha: "More and more books. I wish I could burn them all."
You will reach a portal site:
- Atrozu: "<urging, pointing grunt>"
- Khazasha: "A dead end. But, what's this contraption? Maybe it opens a path."
You can talk to her once you reach the portal site you can talk to her:
- "Based on the runic arrangement, I'd guess this thing creates a portal. A lock this complex surely leads to an area worth protecting.
We need to know where it goes. Find a way to power it. See how that crystal glows? We need more like that." - How do you know we're headed the right way?
- "Didn't you hear the voice? The shouts keep coming from higher up. And they wouldn't put so much protection around this if it didn't go somewhere important.
No, we're definitely on its trail. Before I leave this tower, I will destroy the Ravener." - We still haven't learned how to destroy it.
- "True. Keep your eyes open. Among all these tomes must be something, anything.
If not, then I will throw myself at it with the rage of Clan Kalmur. Justice will be done.'
If you talk to her afterwards she will say:
- "I've very little to lose anymore. The Ravener destroyed my clan. It took everything I knew.
Atrozu reminds me of them. The times when we were all together."
Once you activated the portal:
- Khazasha: "Smart. I just know that the Ravener's through here. Let's go."
You can talk to her before entering the portal:
- "Get in. I want you to go first. Make sure that you don't try to back out on me. Plus, who knows what's waiting for us on the other side."
- You don't trust me now?
- "No, I…. Look, you've brought Atrozu and me this far. We couldn't have made it without you.
I just need to see this done, understand? And I can't do that alone. Once this ends, I'll be in your debt."
Once you enter the portal she will exclaim:
- Khazasha: "Where is this damn Ravener? Is he hiding from me?"
You can talk to her:
- "Why would they hide just more books behind such a lock? There must be something important here.
Search around. But quickly. We can't afford to lose the trail."
As you approach the book on the pedestal:
- Khazasha: "Look here. So much magic imbued in this book."
After reading the Vow of Consumption:
- Khazasha: "No! I won't let this happen."
You can talk to her:
- "This whole time, it was hunting Atrozu. Because of what he represents. The Ravener didn't just want to devour my clan mates. It craved the very idea of the Kalmur. Our unity. Our fellowship.
It would mean our complete destruction." - How does devouring Atrozu accomplish that?
- "You have to understand—as our totem, Atrozu is the clan. The bond between each Kalmur, our memories of the past … our hopes for the future. All of it melds to form him.
Once those bonds are gone, he dies. My clan is destroyed forever." - What do you plan to do?
- "I don't know. That vow claims the orb holds the spirits of my clan. I planned to destroy it so the Ravener couldn't hunt. But what happens to them if I do? And Atrozu?
I need time to think. Let's just find the orb. I'll decide then." - Then we should find it.
As you're moving:
- Khazasha: "I can…feel my people near."
You can talk to her:
- "While training to become wise woman, I learned some Daedric lore. Mostly how to avoid or banish them. But never have I heard of one that feeds on emotion like this. Or … a concept.
Protect Atrozu at all costs. We will kill this creature."
After you witness the visions of the Kalmur Spirits and leave the room she will say:
- Khazasha: "My clan still exists. But only as spirits. Atrozu, what should I do?"
You can talk to her:
- "I've very little to lose anymore. The Ravener destroyed my clan. It took everything I knew.
Atrozu reminds me of them. The times when we were all together." - What happens after you kill the Ravener?
- "No idea. That's not important. All that matters is that we pay it back. Destroy the creature for what it's done. Starve it into destruction."
When you approach the Ravener for the confrontation:
- Atrozu: "<loud, short growl>"
- Khazasha: "Ravener! I won't let you take Atrozu!"
After you defeat the Ravener:
- Khazasha: "It may return. We need to stop it from ever finding us."
As you approach the scrying orb:
- Khazasha: "Look, the scrying orb!"
- Khazasha: "Here it is. But I'm still not sure."
- Kalmur Spirit: "Please, let this torture end. I beg you."
Speaking to her on the decision to make:
- "The Ravener's hunt could end here. But my clan, my family. Because they still exist inside that orb, I still have Atrozu. These last remnants of them keep him alive.
If we destroy this, I lose them for good. And Atrozu leaves with them. But I live." - Do we have other options?
- "We leave them. And I keep Atrozu. I can weaken the orb enough so we can escape. And we'll have to run forever. But at least Atrozu would stay with me.
Please, help me choose. Save my own life, or do I keep my clan's memory alive?" - Protect your life. Destroy the orb.
- "You're right. I'm the final Kalmur. If I throw away my life, then all this was for nothing. Without the orb, the Ravener never completes its hunt. Let it starve.
Let's do this together. I'll weaken the orb's power while you smash it."
- "You're right. I'm the final Kalmur. If I throw away my life, then all this was for nothing. Without the orb, the Ravener never completes its hunt. Let it starve.
- Keep Atrozu. He's all that's left of your clan.
- "Despite everything, I think you're right. What's my life, if I'm all alone? I came here to honor my clan. Destroying them just to save myself would be a coward's choice.
Here, take my blood and pour it on the orb. I'll use that to drain its power."
- "Despite everything, I think you're right. What's my life, if I'm all alone? I came here to honor my clan. Destroying them just to save myself would be a coward's choice.
Sacrifice Atrozu[edit]
If you decided to sacrifice Atrozu she will try to destroy the orb:
- Khazasha: "For the Kalmur!"
After you destroy the orb:
- Atrozu: "<pained whimper>"
- Khazasha: "I'm so sorry, Atrozu."
- Khazasha: "I have enough strength for a portal out of here. Come on."
Before you enter the portal you can talk to her:
- "I'll be right behind you, I promise. I just want one last look around. This place…home of the beast who killed everyone I know. I want to remember what I hate."
- How do you feel?
- ""Weak, but satisfied. I'm imagining the Ravener falling to pieces from hunger. Enraged that it can't find Atrozu.
Go on through. I'll follow behind."
As you leave the portal you will witness last farewell between the wise woman and Atrozu:
- Khazasha: "Goodbye my old friend. Thank you for helping me do what's right."
You can talk to her:
- "We…survived. From the moment we came into the Deadlands, I assumed this was a suicide mission. If you hadn't come along it likely would've been.
Never thought for a moment we'd find a helpful face in Mehrunes Dagon's realm." - What will you do without Atrozu?
- "I don't know. I need to find a way back home, away from this plane. And I must perform rites for the dead. But I can manage that on my own. No need for a protector.
Here's the reward I promised. On behalf of the memory of the Kalmur clan, thank you."
Save Atrozu[edit]
If you decided to let her keep Atrozu, she'll use her blood to destroy the orb:
- Khazasha: "For the Kalmur!"
After you destroy the orb:
- Khazasha: "It won't stay drained long. Let's escape while we can."
- Khazasha: "No need to linger here a moment longer. I'll make us an exit."
Before you enter the portal you can talk to her:
- "I'll be right behind you, I promise. I just want one last look around. This place … home of the beast who killed everyone I know. I want to remember what I hate."
- How do you feel?
- "Angry that the Ravener put me in this position. But also comforted. Atrozu will stay by my side. I won't be completely alone in this world."
You can talk to her:
- "I'll be honest, I really didn't think we'd survive in there. Perhaps you were sent to help me through that trial. Or maybe it was just luck.
But now I think we should go our separate ways. The Ravener will be hunting us. But at least I'm not alone." - Where will you run?
- "Somewhere far, hopefully. Find our way back to Nirn eventually. Atrozu and I will have to keep moving. But we'll have each other. And the memories of my family.
I haven't forgotten your reward. Here you go. Thank you for being there for both of us."
Khazasha then turns to Atrozu:
- Khazasha: "I just couldn't lose you as well, Atrozu. You're all I have left."
Afterwards[edit]
If you talk to her afterwards:
- "I understand there's a town nearby protected from Dagon's influence. Perhaps I'll start there. Someone should know how to get back to Nirn."
Against All Hope[edit]
If you helped Khazasha during Death Stalks the Weak, return to Fargrave after defeating Nokvroz and seemingly all of Fargrave has turned out to celebrate your victory:
- "Rumors of what you've done have flown across planes. Can't say I'm too surprised after what I saw in that citadel.
Don't know how you see yourself, but you're a hero to the entire Kalmur clan." - How did you get to Fargrave?
- "I reached an awful town called Wretched Spire. From there, I hitched a ride with a merchant caravan headed this way.
I'm learning a lot about the people living beyond our home. Villages, families, communities exist in places I didn't expect." - Where will you go now?
- "Need to keep moving, you know? Maybe find another caravan. Head to more strange cities. Learn more than I could've ever thought.
Eventually I'll go back to Nirn. But not for a while."
Hope Springs Eternal[edit]
Khazasha will be at Leyawiin Castle too, however she has the same dialogue as Against All Hope.
