Using Forms For Data Entry and Validation[edit]
At some time I want to explore the concept of using forms to capture (and validate) data on a wiki. This is a great place to try it out! I'm thinking of a form that will allow me to, for instance, type in the name of a particular Person in my fan fiction writing, verify whether a page for them already exists, and if not, to enable a button that automates the creation of a new Person, using the {{SubstNewPerson}} template. I was inspired by the button on the Roleplaying Ideas page, which uses the InputBox extension. However, I'd like to be able to make use of the current value of the Search box, as the name for the new page in the Create box. To do this I'll probably need custom code, such as I did for the PromptGenerator (which itself was inspired by Jak's NameGenerator). – Daric↝talk 04:09, 22 March 2013 (GMT)
