About Me
My real name is not Jak Atackka, although that would be pretty neat. My real name is Alex and I live in the middle of nowhere (right next to the W). I am a college student researching machine learning, and have a lot of programming experience in C++, C#, as well as web dev experience.
My friend introduced me to the Elder Scrolls series by loaning me Oblivion GOTY Edition back in 2011, and I was hooked. Since then, I've been dedicating (not wasting!) hundreds if not thousands of hours of time immersing myself in the rich lore and landscape of Tamriel. I've been using UESPWiki since I first googled "Oblivion", and I started contributing right around when Skyrim released. I was very active through 2013, but since then my activity has been a lot more sporadic.
I am a huge fan of all aspects of the Elder Scrolls. I've played just about all of the games (even the mobile games!), although I've only played Oblivion and Skyrim to any degree of completion. I'm more well-versed in the lore of Tamriel than most, and have read almost every single in-game book.
Wiki Work
After years of editing here, I've found that I'm best at handling the coding-related stuff. Once upon a time I was the unofficial manager of the AbuseFilter and the go-to guy for template and formatting help, if RobinHood70 or Alfwyn weren't available. I've also contributed significantly to our site's articles on the Dragon Language and created the Falmer Alphabet article, and odds are, if it's a template, I've edited it.
Other than making templates, performing general maintenance, and making various minor, cosmetic edits (such as tweaking the formatting or fixing typos), I rarely write large-scale articles. My activity is very inconsistent (before this I took a 3 year break), but if you want to reach out, feel free to drop me a line at any time - I check my email and talk page regularly.
Today's date is Middas, 25th of Evening Star, 2E 2024.
Saturalia
The New Life festival comes a few days early in Wayrest with Saturalia, traditionally held on the 25th of Evening Star. Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading. Visitors are encouraged to participate.
This is a National Holiday.
