• This question is a bit confusing to Europeans. We tend not to have "states/provinces" since your states are our countries! For the record, I've taken state/province to mean the Greater Manchester area which is about the size of NYC despite being fairly representative. Internationally I've taken to mean outside the EU since travel in the EU is barely more challenging than within Britain itself.

• Transportation means conventions are unlikely.
• Travel is a huge factor in attendance, some people cannot afford to go to some of these conventions or meetings.
