- Travel to Fort Virak.
- Talk to Sergeant Gjorring.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
If you approach the Tormented Spire without having completed the story quests at Fort Virak, you will be greeted by a lone Argonian named Sees-Many-Paths.
- "Greetings, traveler. You'll go no further up the river here, I'm afraid. A mystical ward bars the path up to Tormented Spire. An unstable ward, at that."
- What is it?
- "Part of an ancient system of magical protections. Tormented Spire is a prision, the final resting place for a beast out of legend. Normally these wards would be calm, pristine. As you can see, they are anything but."
- Why are you here?
- "I was sent by an egg-sister, Walks-in-Ash. She wanted me to examine the wards and report back. Will you get a message to her?
If you're willing, head to Fort Virak. North of here. They should be able to get word of the instability to her." - I'll head to Fort Virak, then.
Once you reach Fort Virak, speak to Sergeant Gjorring at the Pact camp in front of the fort. Walks-in-Ash isn't here at the moment, but he tells you that he will send a scout for her and hands you a small reward.
- "Well met, friend. What brings you to Fort Virak?"
- I'm trying to get a message to Walks-in-Ash. The wards at Tormented Spire are unstable.
- "The what with the ... wards? All right, whatever you say traveler. I'll pass the word to one of our scouts. They'll find Walks-in-Ash and make sure she gets the message. Thanks for your service."

Sees-Many-Paths thinks the best way to get word to her egg-sister is via the soldiers at Fort Virak. Someone there can get word to Walks-in-Ash, wherever she is.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,

) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
