Swordthane Aelstrom

Swordthane Aelstrom is a frost-cursed Nord skeleton who can be found at the Kjenstag Ruins, east of Morthal.

A few years ago, the swordthane and some Morthal guards stormed the ruins to rescue Freiwen from Maxten Favrete while the latter was performing a ritual. It ended with the ruins frozen over, guards either frozen solid or cursed with undeath and Freiwen and Maxten missing.

Old Mjolen will send you to the ruins to investigate the link between the undead curse hitting Morthal and Freiwen. Swordthane Aelstrom will be in the center of the ruins, in a frozen state, but will burst out when approaching him and you will need to fight him so you can search freely.

Skills and Abilities

Quick Strike

A basic melee attack dealing low physical damage.

Ice Shot

A basic ranged attack dealing low frost damage.

Ice Trap

The icereaver slams their weapon on the ground, creating a long rectangular AoE that deals continuous low frost damage and repeatedly traps affected targets with ice shards.

Frost Maul

The icereaver slowly spins around then slams its weapon on its target, dealing high frost damage and trapping them in place for three seconds. Blocking this attack puts the icereaver off-balance and negates the freeze. Use dodge roll to escape the trap if struck.

Icequake

The icereaver plants their weapon into the ground which causes ice to erupt both around their direct position and all around them, indicated by several AoEs, dealing high frost damage when combined.

Summon

At the start of the fight, two weak Frost-Cursed Skeletal Icereavers next to Aelstrom burst from the ice and assist him.
