Quest Related Events

After speaking to Captain Vistra and promising to locate the wayward recruit, you'll find him just south of Mire Falls (map), chained to a post. Speak to him and he'll ask for help:

"Greetings, citizen! I seem to have suffered a temporary setback. I require your assistance."

What happened to you?

"These Bloodthorn cretins ambushed me! And while I was on a mission of incredible importance! There were dozens of them!
But I didn't go down without a fight. What will the Lion Guard do without me?"

You were on an important mission?

"The Orc that stands … er … sits … before you represents the future of the Lion Guard! I am Recruit Gorak, pride of New Orsinium!
Please untie me. We have work to do. We must recover the General's dispatch and return to Captain Vistra."

We? All right. Hold still.

Untie him and he'll stand and say, "I took a beating when the Bloodthorns grabbed me. I won't be much help in a fight, but I'll cheer you on!"

Speak to him and he'll say:

"Let's show these Bloodthorn cultists what for!"

I have some questions.

"Ask anything, friend!"

Are there a lot of Orcs in the Lion Guard?

"Not many.
It wasn't so long ago that the alliance was forged between Orsinium and Wayrest. Orcs have spent more years fighting the Lion Guard than joining them. I intend to prove the worth of my people."

Why were you out here?

"To prove myself! A messenger disappeared in these swamps several days ago with a dispatch from General Gautier. No one had the wits or the will to venture out here except me. Oh, and you, it would seem."

You seem different from other Orcs I've met.

"Really? I'm a paragon of my people and a perfect example of the essence of true Orc.
In short, I'm exactly what the Lion Guard needs!"

You seem pretty intent on making it in the Lion Guard.

"I grew up reading about the Lion Guard. My mother collected books about the Guard when I was a child. Books such as 'The Lion's Roar,' 'Guardian of my Heart,' and 'For the Love of a Lion.'
I read them all. I knew that this is what I wanted to do."

Find General Gautier's Dispatch and return to Aldcroft, if you speak to him before getting near Aldcroft:

"Let's get this dispatch back to Aldcroft."

Get close to town and Gorak will thank you and run off for Captain Vistra:

Recruit Gorak : "Thank you! I'll take the dispatch to Captain Vistra. Find me later. I owe you a drink!"

After you arrive in town and go to the captain's tent, you'll find Gorak there waiting:

"Tell Captain Vistra what happened out there. She doesn't believe me!"

After the quest: If you chose to say "Gorak was amazing", you'll hear the following:

Captain Vistra: "Gorak, you truly distinguished yourself this day. You're no longer a recruit. Welcome to the Lion Guard, Private Gorak."

Recruit Gorak: "This is the happiest day of my life!"

He will be thrilled:

"If only my mother could see me now!"

If you chose to say "Gorak's injuries slowed him down", you'll hear this:

Captain Vistra : "Gorak, you took the initiative and did your best. You aren't quite ready for the Lion Guard, but you're close."

Recruit Gorak : "I understand, Captain. I'll double my efforts and make you proud. You can count on me!"

Gorak apologizes to you:

"I may have exaggerated a bit. My apologies."

If you chose to say "Gorak was useless", you'll hear this instead:

Captain Vistra : "Gorak, you were a fool to run off on your own. Worse, you lied to your superior officer. I'm tempted to toss you out of the Guard for this."

Recruit Gorak : "Please, Captain. You can't do that. I'll accept any punishment you want to give me. Just don't crush my dream!"

Captain Vistra : "Get to the mess. There are dozens and dozens of potatoes that need to be peeled. And then there are the latrines …."

Recruit Gorak : "Yes, Captain! Right away, Captain! You can count on me!"

<Gorak then leaves.>
