- Speak to Nivene to complete the quest.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Inside Windhelm's Hall of the Dead, past a group of skeevers is a Nord man named Borald. He is hiding in an alcove just off the main passageway.
- "Ysmir's beard, it's good to see a friendly face! I never thought I'd find my way out of here."
- You're not that far from the exit.
- "I got separated from my friends. We were drinking at the festival. I guess you could say we overdid it. Then Jofarr dared me and Nivene to explore those old catacombs.
It was a lark. We didn't expect to find undead right here beneath the city!" - I'll help you find your friends.
- "I'd be very grateful. Jofarr's so drunk he ran off after a draugr. Thought it was a girl he knew. I hope he didn't try to kiss it."
- Let's go.
Setting out to find his friends, you will have to head deeper into the crypt, fighting through various types of undead as well as skeevers. Whenever combat begins, Borald will cower in fear. In an alcove to the south and slightly east of the one Borald was in hides Jofarr, a bottle of alcohol in hand.
- "This is the best party I've been to all night!"
- You must be Jofarr. Come with me.
- "It's not a party without the Jofarr!"
He will tag along to find the rest of Borald's friends, and like him will cower during combat. Fight past some Ice Wraiths and follow the icy tunnel until it opens up into a large cavern. Nivene stands a little ways to the west of the tunnel exit, looking very impatient, though she seems to brighten considerably when she spots who you have in tow.
- "Ah, you've found my drunken Nords. I'll take them off your hands. Lead them back out."
- They are spirited.
- "You've no idea. I'll take them from here. Thanks for keeping them safe. Good to know not everyone in this country is defenseless."
She will give you some gold as thanks and lecture the pair of Nords.
- Nivene Orthil: "I should think you've gotten quite enough of running blindly into draugr-filled caves. Let's get out of here."
- Borald: "Oh, yes please. Let's do get out of here."
- Jofarr: "But, I wanted to punch a draugr!"
- Nivene Orthil: "Jofarr, outside is where they keep the mead."
- Jofarr: "An excellent point. Let's be off, then!"
- Nivene Orthil: "Well, that was easy. Come on, Borald."
- Borald: "At last!"
The trio will then head off, Jofarr staggering somewhat and Nivene at a jog.
Notes[edit]
- The quest journal is slightly off, claiming that Nivene is still missing after you've found both of the missing friends and need to talk to Nivene to complete the quest.
- When the trio leave, they appear to run deeper into the crypt. This is contradictory to their stated goals.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
