Nivene Orthil is a Dark Elf reveler who lost her way inside Windhelm's Hall of the Dead. Her friends, Borald and Jofarr, are also lost in the catacombs.

Quest-Related Events

If you haven't started the quest yet, you'll find her near the central section of the catacombs. When you approach her:

"You don't look like a draugr."

Starting the quest through her, she will be by far the most levelheaded and sober one of her friends. She will explain that she's in the catacombs due to drunken escapades and would like to find her friends:

"I am so tired of tunnels."

What are you doing in these crypts?

"My friends and I got drunk at King Jorunn's party. One thing led to another and now we're lost in tunnels full of undead. Not an uncommon occurrence back in Vvardenfell, but I don't think my Nord friends will handle it too well. Not Borald, at least."

I can help you find your friends.

"I suppose I could use the help. Their names are Borald and Jofarr. Once we find them both, I can lead them out."

Let's go.

If you found one of her friends, she will follow you:

"I see you've found one of my friends. Good to know they haven't all been eaten."

Follow us.

"Probably faster than looking on my own."

Speaking to her again while she's following you:

"I am so tired of tunnels."

If you found all of her friends before her, she will offer to lead the others outside:

"Ah, you've found my drunken Nords. I'll take them off your hands. Lead them back out."

They are spirited.

"You've no idea. I'll take them from here. Thanks for keeping them safe. Good to know not everyone in this country is defenseless."

After your brief conversation, she will turn to her friends:

Nivene Orthil: "I should think you've gotten quite enough of running blindly into draugr-filled caves. Let's get out of here."

Borald: "Oh, yes please. Let's do get out of here."

Jofarr: "But, I wanted to punch a draugr!"

Nivene Orthil: "Jofarr, outside is where they keep the mead."

Jofarr: "An excellent point. Let's be off, then!"

Nivene Orthil: "Well, that was easy. Come on, Borald."

Borald: "At last!"

As you leave the crypts, you'll find her back in her original starting spot:

"Two minutes. That's how long we were out of the crypts before those two drunken idiots ran off again. To Oblivion with them. I'm done playing goat-herd!"
