Belienne's Vanity

Belienne's Vanity is a facet of Belienne's personality that has taken a life of its own, after an experiment with Daedric mirror magic went wrong. She is considered the most dangerous of the Facets and is found imprisoned in Vashabar after she took her anger out on one of the citizens.

After you encounter Belienne chasing after her Fear, she asks you to help find the other Facets of her personality that got loose. Once you have found Despair, Delight and Fear, Belienne will reintegrate them into herself. After speaking with Fear, you learn she was fleeing the "scary one" that threatened to kill her because she was "too pretty".

When you talk with Belienne about this, she shamefully admits that the last facet loose is her Vanity. Belienne will also be concerned as she senses Vanity is in Dawnwood which is the worst place she could be. She reveals she has had unsaid jealous thoughts about the Wood Elves due to their beauty and long lives. Belienne fears what an unfettered Vanity might do them, and asks you to meet up with her in Vashabar.

As you arrive in Vashabar you find Belienne being confronted by Elelorn about something Belienne's Vanity did to his wife. She then asks you to speak with the imprisoned Vanity, as you approach the prisoner, she will sneer at you:

Belienne's Vanity: "What have we here? That's a new face. What a shame it's not prettier."

Speak with Vanity to find out what is going on in her head:

"Hmph. These Wood Elves think they're so perfect, with their pretty little lives in their pretty little forest. None of them deserve it."
You must be Belienne's vanity.
"Vanity? Is that all you think of me? Just shows how ignorant you are.
I'm Belienne the Bewitching! Sorceress extraordinaire and envy of the Systres! And if you think these bindings are enough to hold me, you're sorely mistaken."
Why did the Elves imprison you?
"Jealousy, I assume. They'd hardly be the first to tie me up because of my looks."
This man says you turned his wife into a pig.
"Hah! More like I revealed her true form!
His stupid little wife was tromping around the forest like a dumb animal. So I decided to make her outside match what was inside. She didn't even fight back. She must've known she deserved it."

At this, a shocked Belienne realises that Vanity also contains her rage. She knows she has to reunite this facet, but she is afraid of this ugly part of herself. Speaking with her, you help her acknowledge she needs to accept this part of herself, otherwise she will not be whole.

With the completion of the quest, Belienne will accept the Vanity and Rage aspects of herself and reunite with them:

Belienne: "This prisoner is my responsibility. Let me deal with her, and I'll submit myself to your judgement."
Sarragwen: "Fine, but make it quick."
Belienne's Vanity: "Back off, you simpering fool!"
Belienne: "Darling, we're one and the same. I'll accept you, but you'll never hurt anyone again."
Belienne's Vanity: "You can try to stop me, but we both know I'm part of you, and I always will be."
<Orange light appears in Belienne's hands and Vanity rises in the air, surrounded by an orange light and disappears.>
