Before you free Jakarn, you will deal with a group of Ascendant Order soldiers. One of them will exclaim:

Ascendant Vanguard: "They're here for the prisoner! Take them out or Sarydil will have our heads!"

Thundermaul

Quick Strike

A basic melee attack that does minor physical damage.

Thunder Hammer

Ascendant Vanguard swings and shocks the ground in front of it as indicated by a red cone. This attack does moderate shock damage and can be avoided by moving out of the red cone. Blocking will also reduce damage done.

Shock Aura

Ascendant Vanguard shocks the ground around itself as indicated by a red circle. This attack does moderate shock damage and can be interrupted to knock the enemy off balance. Then they turn into pure lightning which makes them gain massive damage reduction.

Vanquisher

Quick Strike

Basic physical attack.

Heavy Strike

Physical Power Attack. Can be blocked.

Block

Ascendant Vanguard blocks with its one-handed blade.

Retaliation

After blocking an attack, Ascendant Vanguard jumps and spins, hitting the target, staggering them. Can be blocked.

Javelin

Interruptible ranged attack. Ascendant Vanguard throws a javelin at the target, causing them to stumble backward.
