Black Brugo

Black Brugo is an Orc marauder boss and the Chieftain of the Black Bow Bandits, a gang that has been plaguing County Leyawiin. He only appears once you start the related quest.

Brugo spends most of his day hiding out in the wilderness, halfway between Border Watch and the Ayleid ruin of Telepe with his companions Alonzo and Roxy Aric. At 8pm, after a day of rousting innocent travelers, they make their way to Telepe, which they reach after about an hour. They spend all night there before heading back outside at 6am and heading back to their base.

Brugo wears leveled Heavy Armor boots, cuirass, helmet, and has a 50% chance of also carrying a shield. He wears leveled lower class pants and carries leveled lower class shoes, two Potions of Healing and his key, which opens an Ayleid coffer in Telepe.

In combat he carries a leveled longsword or claymore, which may be enchanted (starting at 25% chance from level 3, rising to 40% at level 6 and 50% at level 9). He also carries the signature weapon of his gang - a Black Bow - but will never use it, as he lacks arrows.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

After completing Mazoga the Orc, Count Marius Caro will give you a further task:

Black Brugo
"The outlaw, Black Brugo, is a menace to County Leyawiin. They call his marauders 'Black Bow Bandits' because they use black bows. Find Black Brugo, and execute him for his crimes, and I will make both you and your friend Mazoga Knights-Errant of the White Stallion."
How shall we locate Black Brugo?
"In her shadowy past, your friend Mazoga might have had contacts with outlaws. Ask her."

Sure enough, Mazoga can help:

Black Brugo
"I know Brugo. Long ago, back before I became 'Sir Mazoga', I split a share or two with Brugo."
Tell about Count's offer.
"Brugo's a jerk. He's got a hideout in a ruin called Telepe. Every night, between midnight and six AM, he stops there to pick up his take. We're pals, right? So we'll kill Black Brugo and be knights! I'll wait right here until you ask me to follow you."

Asking her again will net you some inaccurate information, as Brugo will be in Telepe every night, not just on Middas:

Black Brugo
"Expect Brugo and his boys in Telepe. Middas, after midnight."

At this point head over either on your own or with Mazoga in tow to bring the lawbreakers to justice.

Once Black Brugo is dead, the Count will be pleased:

"What news do you have of Black Brugo?"

Depending on whether Mazoga is still alive, he will give slightly differing answers:

Black Brugo is dead.
"Justice has been done. And henceforth, [Mazoga and] you shall be known as Knights of the White Stallion. May I present you with the perquisites of your rank... a key to White Stallion Lodge and a shield bearing the arms of County Leyawiin. [Mazoga's key and shield shall be delivered to her directly.] And I promise you a bounty of 100 gold for each Black Bow you bring me."

After this, you will hear citizens comment on Brugo's death and the County's new chivalric order:

"Count Leyawiin created a new order of knights -- the White Stallion -- for the ones who defeated Black Brugo."
"Black Brugo, chief of the Black Bow Bandits, is dead. And the Count made his killers Knights of the White Stallion."
