—Morga the Witch[1]
Morga the Witch, also known as the Witch of the Black Forest,[2] was a powerful Orc witch (later lich)[3] with many Goblin followers,[4] who once menaced a kingdom in Cyrodiil during the Witches Festival.[5] She had tricked the kingdom's inhabitants into taking out her rival, "the Warlock",[6][7] eventually leading to her defeat by the same citizens she once betrayed.[3] She wore black robes dotted with stains and burn marks from decades of use,[8] and carried a powerful staff carved from a strange wood and decorated with hagraven feathers.[9]
Biography[edit]
—The Witch of the Black Forest tricking people into following her[1]
Little is known of Morga's past, other than that she resided in the Black Forest, and that she became a witch via "opening herself to the invisible world".[1] She eventually became rivals with a powerful warlock known simply as "the Warlock".[7][1] Around the time of the Witches Festival, the Warlock was attempting to perform a woeful ritual that would threaten the realm and allow him to dominate it.[10][6][2] Morga took this opportunity to enact a plan to be rid of her rival,[7] whom she saw as nothing but a thorn in her side,[1] and to usurp the ritual for herself.[3]
To deal with her rival and gain access to villagers she could use for the ritual, Morga sought the aid of a kingdom bordering Bloodfall.[7] She warned them of the danger the Warlock and his ritual posed, and asked for their aid in defeating him.[2][10] The kingdom assembled warriors and managed to fight through the Warlock's many minions, eventually defeating the Warlock himself at his citadel.[6] Soon after however, the ruler of the kingdom would be made aware of Morga's true plan. It is unclear if the ruler banished her, or if one of the people of kingdom slew her.[6][7] One account even claims instead she had briefly became ruler of the kingdom, but was quickly assassinated by a Dark Brotherhood assassin hired by the Warlock.[7] Regardless of what happened, she would return as a terrible lich,[3] and began kidnapping the villagers of the kingdom to complete the Warlock's ritual.[11][3]
One by one the hostages were rescued, both by force,[11] and by bribing the Witch's Goblin followers with stylish clothing.[4] Eventually the Witch was left with one captive, but this was still enough for her to complete the ritual. The kingdom's warriors fought through many of her minions and eventually reached her keep in the Black Forest. After a hard fought battle, the warriors managed to put an end to the Witch of the Black Forest.[3]
