User talk:Volanaro/Archive/1
Hello Volanaro! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! --Rpeh•T•C•E• 14:09, 20 November 2007 (EST)

Thanks for the help with the idiot vandal this morning. It's always good to see other people taking an active role in combating vandalism. Keep up the good work! --Rpeh•T•C•E• 05:39, 4 December 2007 (EST)
- I'm guessing that somebody else was using your computer to do this? CheckUser reveals that both Xbox and Xbox2 edited from the same IP as one that Volanaro uses. Might want to be a little more careful who you let use your computer, to avoid soiling your good name and all. --TheRealLurlock Talk 11:11, 4 December 2007 (EST)
Links and Preview[edit]
Hey. I just noticed you were playing around with the Bone item on the Miscellaneous Items page. In case you are not aware of it, suffixes on this wiki are spelled with lower case letters (in this case; quest instead of Quest). Incorrect capitalization will not work since every link on a wiki is case sensitive.
Another thing is that you can use the Show Preview button to see how a page will appear, instead of saving the page and then noticing there are still some errors and you have to edit the page yet again.
Thanks for all you contributions so far, keep up the good work! --Timenn < talk > 05:30, 13 December 2007 (EST)
User Page Protection[edit]
Just wanted to ask - Do you want your User page semi-protected? You'd still be able to edit it, but IP editors and new accounts wouldn't, and since it's been a frequent target of vandalism, this would save you from having to clean it up all the time. Anyhow, just say the word if you want it. --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:56, 4 February 2008 (EST)
- Done, as per your request. I've set the protection to expire on 1 August, by which time I'd hope this will have all blown over. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 07:02, 5 February 2008 (EST)
hello[edit]
hello volanaro its me xbox. how do you get the gold horsey armour
- Its a mod, you can get it from Xbox live Volanaro 05:40, 14 February 2008 (EST)
thanks dude much helped :)
do you know how much microsoft points it costs anything oover 400 i wont get it.
- Last i knew it was 200, but that could change Volanaro 05:47, 14 February 2008 (EST)
Nice try, but...[edit]
It was nice of you to renumber the notes on the Daedric Quests page, but you forgot to renumber the references as well! LOL I'd been waiting to see if I could plop a different Note 2 in there, but as it turned out, there were no further notes to be added. --Robin Hood 13:44, 18 February 2008 (EST)
Links to Scripted Deaths[edit]
Hey, I just wanted to let you know I've added Linkable Entries to Oblivion:Scripted Deaths. This mean you can link to directly to a NPC instead of just the page itself. For example, Jeanne Frasoric on Essential NPCs has as link: [[Oblivion:Scripted Deaths#Jeanne Frasonic|Scripted Death]]
. I didn't want to start updating all the links, since I feel this is mainly your project, so I'm just letting you know of the change. :) --Timenn < talk > 11:56, 22 February 2008 (EST)
- Yeah, i did think about doing that, decided it wasn't worth it in the end though since the page is so small at the moment it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for. Feel free to do it yourself if you want to though, i would feel gratefull if more people got involved with this, otherwise it fells like i'm only doing it for myself! Volanaro 09:51, 23 February 2008 (EST)
-
- Ok, that's cool. This change would have been the start of doing this for Essential NPCs as well, which would only require tweaking the NPC Summary Template so it would work for all Essential NPCs' pages. --Timenn < talk > 15:57, 23 February 2008 (EST)
Cheers[edit]
Cheers volanaro for the welcome message. I found them links you gave me quite interesting. i am now going to go round editing things and make a good use of myself. Cya. Benny220 04:46, 6 March 2008 (EST)
Just a quick question, are you aloud to import picture from google if they are nothing to do with oblivion? Benny220 04:54, 6 March 2008 (EST)
- Probably not as it takes up space on the wiki, anything to do with the elder scrolls should be fine however so long as it's not copyrighted. Volanaro 04:56, 6 March 2008 (EST)
- ok then. thanks for the info Benny220 04:58, 6 March 2008 (EST)
- Cheers for putting the picture in my page. cya Benny220 05:26, 6 March 2008 (EST)
Thanks![edit]
Thank you for removing that "prod" tag. I did the move and deleted the link then had to go and do some real work... and forgot about the actual tag! Good spot on the roleplay itself too. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 15:56, 11 March 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah i was a bit hesitant about deleting the tag, wasn't sure if you'd left it there for a reason or not, also can't forget how annoyed everyone got with Joshie164 when he kept deleting stuff! Volanaro 08:18, 12 March 2008 (EDT)
Umbra[edit]
Hello there, I saw that you reverted my addition. I suppose one could argue that such would be superfluous, yet I consider it merely a friendly heads up should anyone using a PC desire the item having given it up already (as such not much different from other hints sprinkled here and there advocating the hoarding of potions and repair hammer and the like before proceeding with quest XYZ and the like, especially as it was located outside of the main part of the article). And yes, one can educate oneself easily enough by looking over the page dealing with the console and such, still we're not really running out of space and I think that it is a special case. Cheers, Scoo 14:03, 12 March 2008 (EDT)
Bolor Salvel & Noveni Othran[edit]
I took out your recent additions to these to NPCs, linking to each other as 'the only other' Dunmer necromancer, as there is also Mondrar Henim. You could point out that there are only three Dunmer necromancers, but there aren't that many named necromancers in total, and Dunmer are the second most common (5 Altmer, 3 Dunmer, 2 Breton, 1 Bosmer, 1 Imperial, 1 Redguard). --Gaebrial 07:44, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
- Fair enough, and i'd forgotten about Mondrar Henim! Volanaro 14:26, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
If you don't mind i could use some help.[edit]
I am new to the website and was wondering about how to make my user page, the main thing i was wondering about is the things on everyone's user pages with pictures that say things like: "this user is knowlageable about bloodmoon" and similar things. How do you make them and how do i start making my user page?
- The easiest way to create a new page is to create a link to the page you want to make then click it, like this, User:Bartimeaus77 then you click the link to start a new page, also, the easiest way to get a userbox about bloodmoon etc, is to copy the code from someone else's page, like these ones
This user is knowledgeable about Morrowind. |
This user is knowledgeable about Tribunal. |
This user is knowledgeable about Bloodmoon. |
hope that helps, Volanaro 15:31, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
- Also as eshe said The sandbox is a good place to star when you want to do test edits. I use it when knocking up a new page and so do some of the other users too. Volanaro 15:33, 13 March 2008 (EDT)
Userboxes[edit]
Hi Volanaro. Please can you take the Admin and Mentor userboxes off your sandbox? I know you're only experimenting but your page still appears in the category listing administrators and the one for mentors. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 08:12, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Consider it done. Volanaro 11:12, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Also, to save you some trouble: you do realize that there's already a page listing of all of the site's "standard" userboxes at UESPWiki:Userboxes? --NepheleTalk 11:59, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah, I was aware of that, The main reason I created this page was to have a place where I could make "non-standard" userboxes and to put userboxes that I had a particular interest in.
- Also, to save you some trouble: you do realize that there's already a page listing of all of the site's "standard" userboxes at UESPWiki:Userboxes? --NepheleTalk 11:59, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Oh, didn't see this. I removed the Admin one earlier, looks like you got the Mentor one after that. Though I think you qualify for Mentor status, so you might be able to have that back if you want it. But yeah, the Admin userbox is definitely verboten, even on a sandbox or sub-page. --TheRealLurlock Talk 15:30, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- I didn't think I qualified for Mentor Status! by the way, I was wondering if Rpeh and Nephele were interested in putting that bot userbox on Robot and NepheleBot's pages, I only made it when I had nothing else to do but it seems a shame to waste it! Sorry if the admin userbox caused too much trouble by the way. :( Volanaro 05:23, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
- Well, the criteria for Mentors are pretty loose:
- At least 200 constructive edits outside "User" and "Talk" namespaces
- Active on UESPWiki within the last three months
- Enabled email capabilities or IRC regular
- So I'd say you qualify if you want it - keeping in mind the possibility that people might bug you for advice and stuff - though I'm not sure how much that really happens; I've been a Mentor pretty much since the program existed and I get very few calls for assistance, and those I get are mostly because I'm also an Admin, I think. But there's no official application process for Mentors. Just add your name to the list at Mentor Program, and put the Userbox on your page, and so long as you meet those minimal requirements, you're in. As I said, it's kind of an empty honor, because I've almost never seen new users seeking Mentors, but it's yours if you want it. --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:53, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
- Well, the criteria for Mentors are pretty loose:
- "gasp!" it would be an honour to be involved in the mentor program, so do i just add myself to the mentor list or does someone else do it for me? I always feel a bit uncomfortable nominating myself for seomthing! Volanaro 14:07, 18 March 2008 (EDT)

Book Formatting[edit]
Hi again. Reformatting books is currently one of the tasks on the task list, so it's okay. The idea is to try to get all the hard-coding out of the books and format them using wiki markup so they can be searched more accurately (and look better). Just thought I ought to mention it following your earlier undo. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 07:03, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
- ok, i just saw nepheles comment in the history and decided to follow it, sorry i must really be getting on your nerves with all the stuff i've been doing thats had to be reverted afterwards! i'll probably be a bit quieter over the next few days. busy on modwiki sorting out those jokers! Volanaro 07:05, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
- Not at all; you're very helpful. Nephele's comment was directed at somebody "correcting" the text of the book rather than just the formatting. We don't change the text itself except to add things like notes or "sic" templates, but the formatting is fair game. Don't worry about making the odd mistake. It's much better to be bold in your edits than never make one for fear of getting it wrong. The site is huge and it's tricky to keep track of what has been decided everywhere so there are bound to be things that get undone. Keep up the good work! –Rpeh•T•C•E• 07:11, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
- thanks, that makes me feel a lot better, and reminds me that i;m actually some use! :) Volanaro 07:12, 18 March 2008 (EDT)
