Welcome[edit]

Hello! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! --RIM 19:59, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Images[edit]

Hello and welcome! I noticed you posted an image on the Bleak Falls Barrow talk page, along with a desire to contribute images to the wiki. We try not to put images on our pages that are hosted by outside sites. The help page for images has instructions on how to upload images to the website, along with the preferred size and naming methods for them. Should you need further help, there may be some mentors willing to aid you. --Velyanthe 20:47, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, I do tend to plunge in headlong and figure things out along the way. Sorry about that, I'll try and read up on things.Titania
Would any one of these mentors have a relation to h2g2? Because I think we'd be more likely to speak the same language...Titania
It's completely alright. I am personally unfamiliar with h2g2, but you are free to email any of the mentors and ask them. --Velyanthe 14:52, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
So reassuring to know someone is keeping an eye on my stumbling baby steps here ;-) Titania

Symbols[edit]

All those symbols on your user page, where can I find them? Titania

Are you talking about Userboxes? There are links at the top of that page that will show userboxes for Nationality, Personal Info, etc., along with formatting your own. --Velyanthe 21:10, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Search for a friend?[edit]

It seems one of my Internet weirdo friends ;-) is a member here, but how do I go about locating his/her user page?

Excuse me, but how is looking for a friend that is already a member of UESP deemed unsuitable? — Unsigned comment by Titania (talkcontribs) at 14:29 on February 8, 2012

Go here (the "More Options" button underneath the search bar on the left), select the box that says "User" (in the third column from the right), then type the name into the search bar in the middle of the page and click on "Advanced Search". The reason this may be seen as unsuitable is because looking for a friend generally has little to do with wiki business; if you wish to chat with that friend, please use the email function once you have found their account, as talk pages should be used only for wiki business.
I may also point out that you have been posting on your talk page when not signed in--you are seen as only an anonymous user. It is advised to log in before posting in order to avoid identity confusion. --Velyanthe 19:34, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Ah, so 'logged in' isn't the same as 'signed in' I suppose? Because I was logged in when posting the 'Excuse' sentence - I didn't realise I had to go through all the [ [ User:Titania|Titania ] ] each and every time I wanted to post something. — Unsigned comment by Titania (talkcontribs) at 14:40 on February 8, 2012
Oh, you don't need to type that out every time. Once you're logged/signed into the website, you need only type ~~~~ in order to get your signature on the end of your comment. What I mean is that sometimes the page history shows that 83.251.225.227 has posted, when you comment while not logged in. So people think that 83.251.225.227 and you are different users, which can cause confusion. --Velyanthe 19:46, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh... right... sorry, forgot... a 'tilde' is quite complicated to achieve on my kind of keyboard Titania 19:50, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

There is a button on the screen that can insert your signature for you; it is the second button from the right, above the textbox. --Velyanthe 21:56, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
