Applewatch graveyard[edit]
The graveyard in applewatch doesn't seem to show up for me until after completing the A Kiss Before Dying quest. Perhaps this is due to a bug that it would show up earlier? I am using the unofficial oblivion patch, so that could play a role in the discrepancy here.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the work you've been doing to clean up and meticulously check edits. It's a relief to know there's people out there who have that kind of dedication to the site! That being said, I'd like to encourage you to consider becoming a Recent Changes Patroller. You clearly know what you're doing and you're basically doing the job already, plus we could really use a few more active Patrollers. - True, there is an Altmer Guard present in that particular quest. I'm not disputing that aspect of your claim. However, there is also an Altmer Guard present at the Battle of Kvatch, which renders your previous claim of that being the 'only Altmer Guard' moot. While your point is a valid one, and does (unintentionally) highlight the inherent racism of the Cyrodillic Empire, it's still rather inconsequential and unnecessary in relation to the quest. --Saruuk 07:27, 26 August 2007 (EDT)

Saruuk removing my comment twice[edit]
Hi Saruuk, just wondering why you have removed my comment in regards to not selling the cursed mace accidentally. Fair enough you have said it is common sense not to sell the mace but as quest items cannot usually be sold and do not even appear in the window to be sold i think it is a valid point. Also alike me i'm sure players quickly sell anything they do not recognise as one of their items they always keep. I think it should be added to the quest page if nothing else just to warn people. If they do sell it accidently then they know to reload the last save they made as opposed to playing on and then realising 50 hours down the line that they wished they had simply reloaded.

- There are a number of other quest related or necessary items that are also not flagged as quest items, and as a result can also be dropped or sold. These include Roderick's Poison, the Finger of Adamus Phillida, Newheim's Heirloom, the Argonian Heart, Brithaur's Heart, all of the Oddities, West Weald Bear Fangs, the Savilla's Stone, Nirnroots, the Dalvilu Ceremonial Dagger, every single House Upgrade, Bonekeeper arrows and the Rose of Sithis to name a few. It seemed a bit trivial mention to mention that the mace could be sold. I'm not going to remove it again if you'd still like to add it though. =) --Saruuk 20:36, 1 September 2007 (EDT)
Wow didn't realise there were so many quest items you could sell! I've got a major problem pal don't suppose you can help? My disc said it was unreadable for the 1st time - i reloaded but the clothing of all NPC's can no longer be seen! Whats going on? Is there any way of undoing this?
- It sounds like it may be a mod conflict. If you do have a mod loaded, it is likely their either the texture/mesh doesn't work, or the mod has altered the archiveinvalidation file so that it no longer points to the correct place. This could also occur if the mod changes the texture without modifying the respective mesh. (or vice versa) If you are using a PC version with mods, try either using a mod program like the oblivion mod manager to change the load order, or deactivate the mods and try again. Or, check to make sure you using the actual mod, and not just a patch for that mod. (I've done it on a few occasions, the result is always bad) I don't use the console versions, so I wouldn't be able to offer any advice in that respect. If you're using xbox360 or PS3, Nephele and Eshe respectively, might be able to help you further. --Saruuk 20:38, 2 September 2007 (EDT)

Oblivion:Random Oblivion World 2[edit]
The link to discussion that you removed, is necessary. The map itself does not identify the yellow circle as the destination, and the circle itself is not particularly noticable. I don't plan on changing it back, but the entire point of linking to it was that it was difficult to find. If you have a better way of indicating that the yellow circle is the location of the door, please feel free to do so. I'm going to bed now, and don't visit this wiki that often, so if you leave it like it is now, it'll probably stay that way for a long time. Applewatch graveyard[edit]
The graveyard in applewatch doesn't seem to show up for me until after completing the A Kiss Before Dying quest. Perhaps this is due to a bug that it would show up earlier? - I'm not 100% sure. I think the graveyard appears after completing the Next of Kin quest, mainly because I couldn't find anything in the CS that suggested that it appeared after A Kiss before Dying. I've only ever played the DB questline once, so I can't confirm anything from an actual in-game point of view. --Saruuk 05:00, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Thats a problem ive always had with this wiki. The construction set contains nothing but technical data, which is desighned to ensure the game runs smoothly, it doesnt reflect the content story or characters in the game, and that is what we should be writing about we are an encyclopedia after all not a strategy guide.--Athraniel 08:45, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
- I believe that's because the content of the game, such as the lore, story, etc, is all open to debate and interpretation. This can create a literal shitstorm when people (not implying you of course =) insist that their interpretation of the game's lore is included in a page, no matter how debatable, controversial, poorly written or inaccurate it is. The Construction Set however, is empirical proof as to how the game should and was intended to run. Ergo, it is more convenient and accurate to rely upon data from the CS than hearsay from every ElderScrolls player on the Internet. In the case of faction memberships, that information determines who will attack you and under what circumstances, which is typically fairly useful information to know when playing the game. (See Factions for details). The game storyline-related information is interesting background, but it does not control the behaviour of the NPCs. If we start to allow exceptions for some things (Ungolim really being the listener of the Dark Brotherhood for instance) then where does it stop? Do we change Rimalus Bruiant's page to state that he is part of the Bruiant family, despite the fact that the CS data says he isn't? - Yes we should be doing these things, because going by the construction set is incorrect, it undermines the whole point of a wiki which is to build a complete encyclopedia of the subject topic. - Where exactly are you obtaining the information that Wiki policy is clearly states that articles should be written in a "real world perspective"? I know of no place on UESP where such a statement is made (in particular there is no such statement in any obvious place such as UESPWiki:Style Guide, UESPWiki:Policies and Guidelines, or UESPWiki:About).
- Furthermore, almost none of the articles are currently written in a real world perspective; they are written from a player's perspective. For example, the article that initiated this discussion, Oblivion:Dark Brotherhood, is not written from the point of view of a person living within Cyrodiil. Instead, it describes how a person playing the game of Oblivion can join the Dark Brotherhood and what advantages to gameplay you can expect as a result. Nearly every number or fact on that page (and on any Oblivion or Morrowind page) is taken from the construction set. It is the only way to provide an objective and factual "complete encyclopedia" of the subject topic.
- Based on this discussion (and some previous, related discussions) I'm actually likely to propose adding a new section to the Style Guide to clarify this type of issue and in particular the relevance of construction set data for the wiki. That addition will be subject to community approval (as are all wiki guidelines), but it will fundamentally be based on what existing practices are on this site. And existing practice is to provide as much factual and quantitative information as possible, which fundamentally requires the use of construction set data. --NepheleTalk 12:14, 25 September 2007 (EDT)

Unacceptable Edit Summaries[edit]
Edit summaries like this one are, quite simply, unacceptable. Insulting other editors and using obscenities are never appropriate ways to behave. There is nothing witty, humorous, or even intelligent in swearing at someone else, and it is offensive not only to the editor who was targeted but to every editor who has to see that comment, whether in Recent changes or in that article's edit history. The fact that several verification tags have been removed without explanation is absolutely no excuse. This editor was not responsible for any of the other cases where verification tags were deleted, so you cannot blame him/her for simply being unaware of how this wiki works. When an editor makes a mistake, you should be trying to help the editor learn and improve. Alienating new editors helps nobody. --NepheleTalk 17:19, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

It never says in the article on confirmed glitches that it's possible to complete Light the Dragonfires. Thats why I posted it.

- Perhaps not on the list of glitches article, but the glitch is described in the Oblivion:Temple_of_the_One article. Regardless, there were 2 issues with your edit that prompted me to remove it; it was a large verbose edit, consisting of over 4 paragraphs, whereas the information in the Temple article consists of 3 sentences, and it was written in an overwhelmingly subjective point of view, where writing in the objective form is generally more acceptable. --Saruuk 21:29, 29 June 2008 (EDT)
