Welcome![edit]

Hello NONIMAN! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! eshetalk 14:47, 15 January 2013 (GMT)

Advise - Show Preview[edit]

Hello NONIMAN! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. -- SarthesArai Talk 20:31, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

More Then vs More Than[edit]

Good morning! I really appreciate your contributions to Skyrim pages. It's wonderful that we have people like you making note of how often events can happen, or the amount of loose items found in specific locations. Details like that really round out location pages!

I don't want there to be any bad blood between anyone editing Louis Letrush and Promises to Keep, so I figured I should communicate why I keep insisting that "more than" is the correct turn of phrase in these instances.

"Then" is used to refer to something that is next in a sequence, as in this example:

  • "We need to crack the eggs. Then, we can add the milk."

It can also be used to describe something from the past:

  • "There were more blue-finned lungfish back then."

"Than" can be a conjunction or a preposition (in the case of Letrush, it's being used as a preposition), and is often used in comparisons, such as:

  • "That cake is so rich, you'll get sick if you eat more than one slice."

Writing Explained.org has a more in-depth explanation of why "more than" is more favorable than "more then".

I hope this clears up any confusion, and that you have a great day! -MolagBallet (talk) 16:47, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

More on Then vs. Than[edit]

Good evening!

I would like to express gratitude that someone is taking seriously my little contribution to this wide community. But I can't accept solution for "Than" to be more appropriate before "Then" in this particulare situation.

To be more accurate "Then" should be used with time and order situation and "Than" should be used with any form of comparison. So, in a sentence "This event may happen more then once." particulare situation is matter of time and consequence, not matter of comparison. If I would be using sentence like "This thug event is different than Black-Briar thug event." then I would use "Than" because that would be form of comparison.

Further explanation on this should be found on: Dictionary.com

Best regards, NONIMAN

The phrase "More than once" (with an a) is an extremely common phrase. A quick google with clearly show that "than" should be used, not "then". If you try and google "more then once" google will correct you "did you mean "more than once"?" Once isn't a time in this scenario, once is a number of occurrences, and "than" should be used when comparing numbers of things. Jeancey (talk) 20:29, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
In a way, you're right about interpreting "then" as being about time and order, but you're misunderstanding what's meant there. Interpreting "more then once" in a time/order fashion (and it would be really bizarre phrasing even if you did) it would mean doing something more times, then doing it once more as something completely separate, like if you did something a long time after. That's not what's happening here. Here, "once" is the base amount and we're comparing to that, saying that something has happened more than that. Robin Hood(talk) 21:47, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
I accept it. Most interesting conversation. — Unsigned comment by NONIMAN (talkcontribs) at 14:18 on 19 April 2021

Links[edit]

Thank you for your interest in helping the site! However, I'd like to point out a guideline on links. Generally you don't want to repeatedly link to a single page more than once in a section, you can learn more about why that is here. It is genuinely helpful to add links to pages if they aren't present, but it is also possible to overdo it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:10, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for your intervention sir! This is the second time that someone of admins deny my work. I would be much oblige if you would undo all my contribution to this wiki. That would be proper for your level. NONIMAN
