Bonewalker image[edit]
Which unedited one were you talking about? Cause all I did was make it the right size when I reuploaded it. I didn't change anything else. Did you mean one of the ones before that? Jeancey (talk) 18:46, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
- I meant this version of the image. The "color correction" from 2008 is very low quality, so it would be better to restore it to the unedited version. If you want, you could crop that version and re-upload it. —Legoless (talk) 19:12, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
- kk, I edited that one and uploaded it. Jeancey (talk) 19:18, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
- Image was washed out due to unused blackspace. please verify update seeing both side by side: old vs new. QuNybble talk 1740-02Feb2013(MDT)
- kk, I edited that one and uploaded it. Jeancey (talk) 19:18, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
Ysmir[edit]
Actually, in this case it isn't a title. It is referring specifically to the member of the pantheon known as Ysmir, which is Tiber Septim. The other two (ie, the player and Wulfharth) aren't part of this. Linking to the disambiguation page just makes it seem like any of them could be it, which is not true. There is a very specific person that they are referring to in this case. Jeancey (talk) 00:10, 1 February 2013 (GMT)
- My bad, didn't notice it mentioning Talos specifically in the text. —Legoless (talk) 00:35, 1 February 2013 (GMT)
Image Post-Processing[edit]
...with regards to , you seemed curious on my approach.
I started with the screenshots I had incorrectly added to Lore:King_Olaf's_Verse and cropped out the scribbles that we needed. Then I removed all colors and manually edited the few black pixels that were not font (shadows &ct from the image). For the fonts that were directed up and right, I rotated the image by 4 or 5 degrees, and skewed to top over by about 50 pixels so it looked fairly perpendicular around the corners. Then I changes the perspective until the sheet looked mostly flat; stitched the first and second scribbled out text to two files and saved the image as png after replacing all white-tones as transparent. QuNybble talk 1624, 02Feb2013(MDT)
- Wow, a lot of work. I had wondered if you had somehow extracted it, rather than manually cropping and editing the screenshots. Nice job! —Legoless (talk) 23:28, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
Black Book quest images[edit]
I've come across The Winds of Change book and am in that quest. I was wondering if some images of the places these books transport you to when they are activated would be wanted. SAMPLE
- Snowolf69 (talk) 05:45, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
- I'm sure they'd look good on the quest pages. If we make proper place pages as well (which would be slightly redundant), we'd need images like that. I've already uploaded a few Apocrypha images, which are displayed on Lore:Apocrypha. —Legoless (talk) 17:46, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
-
-
-
- I have only accessed one black book, The Winds of Change, but would any more information about each of them be necessary or is there already a page for each of them (not a lore page)? As in where to find them, what happens when you read them, what perks they give, etc. - Snowolf69 (talk) 23:16, 11 February 2013 (GMT)

Skaal Prerelease image[edit]
Why remove the prerelease image? It is honestly a really good image, and it fits well on the page. Is there any reason we CAN'T use it? Jeancey (talk) 18:15, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
- Pre-release images aren't a true representation of a subject. Only in-game images are used as they are "true" depictions of a subject. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:21, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
Maps on lore pages[edit]
When the place in question doesn't appear on the maps, and when there is an actual image of the place to use, why shouldn't we show the actual location, rather than a useless map that has no bearing on the subject of the article? Jeancey (talk) 00:53, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
- The Skyrim map does show Pale Pass. Perhaps replacing the Cyrodiil map with the Skyrim one, and the Skyrim map with the in-game image would be okay? Just something to break up that wall of text. —Legoless (talk) 00:56, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
"the" skaal village vs skaal village.[edit]
The game is very inconsistent on this matter. Here are the references I used in making my decision. With 'The'
- CSList (RR guards, not a Skaal)
- CSList (glover mallory, not a skaal)
- CSList (glover mallory, not a skaal)
- CSList (Hilund, not a skaal)
Without 'the'
- CSList (Morwen, one of the skaal)
- CSList (Councilor Morvayn, not a skaal)
- CSList (Baldor Iron-Shaper, skaal)
- CSList (Gjalund Salt-Sage, not a skaal)
- CSList (Geldis, not a skaal)
- CSList (Storn, skaal)
- CSList (Nikulas, skaal)
- CSList (Gjalund Salt-Sage, not a skaal)
The Evidence is pretty clear. 4 use 'the' 8 do not, and EVERY one of the people who use the aren't a skaal, about half of the ones that don't use it are members of the skaal. The skaal call is Skaal Village, no The, it is very clear that is the correct usage. Jeancey (talk) 21:22, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
- That's very odd. I'd still recommend including the "the", simply for clarity and grammatical correctness. I wonder how it's used in Bloodmoon? —Legoless (talk) 21:28, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
-
- I haven't checked bloodmoon, but I don't think we should use it. We had this issue with a few other places, and the decision was to go with the most common usage in the most recently released version of the game. The fact that the NONE of the skaal refer to it as "the" skaal village is a key point for me. They don't use it to refer to their own village, and I don't think we should either. Jeancey (talk) 21:30, 14 February 2013 (GMT)
-
-
- I don't think it's a question of which one is correct. Both are acceptable, but adding the "the" gives it a more formal title. See Lore:Goldbrand, Lore:Pale Pass and Lore:Lord Lovidicus as examples. —Legoless (talk) 21:35, 14 February 2013 (GMT)

Rename tag[edit]
Hey, Lego. I'm just curious why you're putting rename tags on things when you have permission to move them yourself. As I recall, we only created that tag for people who didn't have permission. – Robin Hood (talk) 22:29, 19 February 2013 (GMT)
- Laziness, mostly, and also to see if anyone objects. With Lore:Jorunn the Skald-King (book), I was about to create an Online article and wasn't actually planning to make the move, but I added a tag for future reference. —Legoless (talk) 22:35, 19 February 2013 (GMT)
-
- Hahaha, okay, that works. – Robin Hood (talk) 22:37, 19 February 2013 (GMT)
Irrelevancy[edit]
How do you consider this image irrelevant to a location that contains multiple instances of the item? There are three of them at this site, this is an image of one. Please help me understand your logic. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:50, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
- We don't include random images of flora on a page just because the plant can be found at that place. Similarly, a generic image of mammoth cheese is not relevant on an unrelated place page. The mammoth cheese image is for use as a "flora" image whenever it gets its own page/entry. If it were to be displayed anywhere else, it would be Skyrim:Giant's Grove, since I think that's where I took the shot. —Legoless (talk) 18:08, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
-
- It isn't some random flora, mammoth cheese is quite rare, there are only five locations where it is found. The location of the image is the only thing, as I can see that Gulden's Rock has no snow. Dwarfmp has suggested taking the same image, but at that location to make it better fit. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:20, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
MW:Guards split tag[edit]
Hey, Legoless. I wanted to shoot a question past you about MW:Guards and the split tag, since you were an active part of the short lived discussion a year ago on it. Is a split necessary, in the page's current state, do you think, or is it fine like it is? Jo'Sakhar➚talk to me 00:54, 22 February 2013 (GMT)
Dragonborn Map Icons[edit]
I noticed you were the one who uploaded the map icons, found here with the other Skyrim map icons. Is there a reason they're all grey instead of white? They don't appear that way in the game, and it makes the icons look out of place when used side-by-side with standard Skyrim icons, such as on Dragonborn:Places. It's easy to fix, I was just wondering if there was some reason we wanted these to be a different color from the rest of them. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 02:53, 28 February 2013 (GMT)
- They were taken from the leaked files and uploaded before Dragonborn's release. They should be changed to white. —Legoless (talk) 20:42, 28 February 2013 (GMT)
The Fact tag[edit]
Hey, I wanted to just let you know why I removed it in the first place. I removed it because the Sovngarde article (which is linked in that sentence) states specifically that it is a plane of Aetherius. If this is possibly incorrect, the fact tag needs to be added at the Sovngarde article, not in a sentence that links to it. I re-removed the fact tag, but if it really needs a source (I haven't looked into it too much), then we should add the tag to the main article. Hopefully that all made sense and wasn't too redundant :P Jeancey (talk) 16:50, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
- That statement seems unlikely and requires a reference. The Lore:Sovngarde article was created after that fact tag was in place, so it is hardly a reliable source. Fact tags should only be removed if a reference is provided. —Legoless (talk) 16:55, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
-
- The point is that the reference in this sentence IS the article. Therefore, the fact tag needs to be provided at the article itself, not any page that happens to use information from the article. That's the standard procedure for sources on wikis. I'm not saying the fact tag is removed entirely, but I'm moving it to the Sovngarde article. Jeancey (talk) 16:58, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
-
-
- It would still be good to have a reference on the Lore:Aetherius page. —Legoless (talk) 16:59, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
-
-
-
-
- Possibly, but I don't think it needs a fact tag in the middle of the sentence like that. If we DO find a reference, we could add it, but as it stands, I think it is fine. If someone is interested in it, they check out the sovngarde article, and they see the citation needed there. After I finish with linking the gods to the actual articles on those gods, I'll look around to see if I can find a reference for it.. Jeancey (talk) 17:03, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- I looked into it. It's accurate. The quest log from the Sovngarde quest states "I've passed through Alduin's portal into Sovngarde, the realm of Aetherius where the souls of Nord heroes go to feast and battle until the final reckoning. Now to find Alduin and defeat him once and for all." Jeancey (talk) 17:17, 2 March 2013 (GMT)

(←) Just saying the Fact tag no longer gets transcluded when added, so the noinclude tags aren't needed anymore, for future reference. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:49, 2 March 2013 (GMT)
House Sadras article[edit]
Hi, as you've probably noticed I've been tidying up the Great House articles with new 4th Era info. House Sadras is the only 4th Era Great House without an article, so I've attempted to start one at User:Enodoc/Sandbox. As you claim Loremastery, I was wondering if you'd be able to give it a look over, and make any edits you deem necessary. Thanks, Enodoc (talk) 21:44, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
- Looks perfect to me, although a bit small. Shame we have so little information to go on. —Legoless (talk) 21:54, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
-
- Indeed. Am I right in thinking we have, essentially, no more than a name? I don't think there's much more I can extrapolate to make it any longer without going too far into speculation.
- Also, as a side question, on Fable Wiki we have a SpecialPage for article creation called Special:CreatePage, which this wiki does not have. Would I then just need to navigate to Lore:House Sadras and start from there? --Enodoc (talk) 22:46, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
The "Last Dragonborn"[edit]
Someone started a short spree of "the Dovahkiin" to " the Last Dragonborn" the other day, I was wondering if you had noticed that. My question is, what exactly is preferred? In my opinion, I think it's a useless change, and maybe even a worse change. Suppose we could debate the lore, but I think you know what I mean and agree, seeing as you're supposed to be the Lore master :) ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 23:05, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
- I always prefer to use "the Last Dragonborn", with all subsequent instances as simply "the Dragonborn". "Dovahkiin" is a general title and a word in the Dragon Language, so it's not ideal. I'd agree with the change. —Legoless (talk) 23:10, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
-
- Really? Prophecy aside, we can't really be sure if it's the last dragonborn, some say the prophecy was that Alduin would destroy the world, which is why you were the last dragonborn. I thought "Dovahkiin" was a name given to Tiber Septim and you, no-one else, and that in such case, it would also be rather clear who was meant. Just "Dragonborn" is of course too vague ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 23:14, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
-
-
-
- I thought the Greybeards referred to Tiber Septim as the Dovahkiin, as they do the player. Of course that just means Dragonborn, but I don't think they called anyone else Dovahkiin, nor do other people other than the dragons use the term. I guess I could be wrong ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 23:26, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
-
-

- Arngier who is the only one to really talk only calls you Dovahkiin during the greeting thing, every other time he calls you Dragonborn. "Lingrah krosis saraan Strundu'ul, voth nid balaan klov praan nau. Naal Thu'umu, mu ofan nii nu, Dovahkiin, naal suleyk do Kaan, naal suleyk do Shor, ahrk naal suleyk do Atmorasewuth. Meyz nu Ysmir, Dovahsebrom. Dahmaan daar rok." which is apparently the same words he used with Tiber Septim "We spoke the traditional words of greeting to a Dragonborn who has accepted our guidance. The same words were used to greet the young Talos, when he came to High Hrothgar, before he became the Emperor Tiber Septim." I was under the impression that Dovahkiin simply meant Dragonborn in the Dragons language, guards say "In the ancient tongue, you are Dovahkiin - Dragonborn!" The rest of the greybeards call you Dovahkiin but that is the only word they ever say I think. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 01:43, 7 March 2013 (GMT)

- I got the impression that "the Last Dragonborn" really just means the last so far, not that there will never be another Dragonborn ever again. It is somewhat awkwardly worded if you think about it that way, but I think we have no real reason to believe that the player is literally the last Dragonborn there will ever be ever. Oh, it's worth noting that guards in every city will also call you Dovahkiin if you've beaten the main quest, so it's not just Greybeards and dragons who know the word. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 02:15, 7 March 2013 (GMT)

- I think the player is quite literally the last. The Book of the Dragonborn talks about the "advent of the Last Dragonborn" as part of the Prophecy of the Dragonborn. Miraak also uses it as a title in dialogue, which wouldn't make sense if it meant "last" as in "newest". —Legoless (talk) 17:33, 7 March 2013 (GMT)

(←) There is heavy intonation on you being the Last Dragonborn, as every time it is used in this context, it is capitalized. The prophecy from Alduin's wall and the book, "The World-Eater wakes, and the Wheel turns upon the Last Dragonborn.", Esbern talking about the carvings in Sky Haven Temple "Now they kneel, their ancient mission fulfilled, as the Last Dragonborn contends with Alduin at the end of time." Then with Dragonborn DLC we have "And so the First Dragonborn meets the Last Dragonborn at the summit of Apocrypha.", and "Join the Last Dragonborn in his destruction." both by Miraak. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:33, 7 March 2013 (GMT)
- "The World-Eater wakes, and the Wheel turns upon the Last Dragonborn." and "Now they kneel, their ancient mission fulfilled, as the Last Dragonborn contends with Alduin at the end of time." How do you know these quotes are a reference to you? As far as I know it is not yet the end of time. After defeating Alduin you are told he was probably sent to the end of time to fulfill his destiny. Seems like a Dragonborn at the end of time would be more likely to be the Last Dragonborn. Also the quotes from Miraak "And so the First Dragonborn meets the Last Dragonborn at the summit of Apocrypha." and "Join the Last Dragonborn in his destruction." how can we be sure these are reliable? According to Miraak the 'Last Dragonborn' was going to die and he was going to be free to return to Tamriel. He was wrong... — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 20:58, 7 March 2013 (GMT)

- There's no reason to question the reliability of the prophecy in Sky Haven Temple. It's obviously referencing the player. —Legoless (talk) 21:04, 7 March 2013 (GMT)
- I agree with the change, as well. Not just because this is obviously the Last Dragonborn(they only exist because Akatosh needed them to seal the barriers and defeat Alduin. Check and check), but because Bethesda themselves have called the player character as such.--Br3admax (talk) 22:06, 8 March 2013 (GMT)

(←) Just thought I'd point out this CP discussion, which seems relevant. It's been my guide on this policy, at any rate. I don't really have a preference for what we call the Skyrim player character, so long as whatever moniker we're using is consistent across the wiki (or at least the lore section), and it satisfactorily distinguishes the character from other people. Artifacts[edit]
You know that there already is a header trail for artifacts? Why the need to create a new one? Jeancey (talk) 17:54, 10 March 2013 (GMT)
- The current one simply links to Lore:Artifacts. I'd like an alphabetical one similar to Template:Lore Factions Trail, to be used solely on the list pages. No idea why it isn't working, though... —Legoless (talk) 17:56, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Garridan Stalrous[edit]
I've stumbled upon Lore:Garridan Stalrous, long story short: would you be willing to write it? Most of his info is already written on the Lore:Everflow Ewer page, and I don't think there's much to write about. I was wondering if duplication of other lore text is avoided or not. In any case, most information is found in the book Knightfall if starting from scratch is preferred. ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 22:20, 10 March 2013 (GMT)

Stones as Artifacts[edit]
Hi, Legoless. What do you think of listing magical stones in the artifacts section? I noticed Sigil Stones made the cut, but will you be including the Welkynd Stone and the Varla Stone there? We have lore pages for them, but no category, and I can't think of anywhere else they would fit. And are you working on a page for Heart Stones? Minor EditsThreats•Evidence 20:34, 17 March 2013 (GMT)
- I'm unsure what to do with stone and mineral pages (like Lore:Malachite). I intend to eventually make a Lore:Aetherial Fragments page for the various crystals and stuff. I don't have anything written about Heart Stones, but they need a page. —Legoless (talk) 20:41, 17 March 2013 (GMT)

- Taking care of the heart stone lore page. Should we capitalize "Heart Stone(s)" in the lore, or no? Minor EditsThreats•Evidence 22:35, 18 March 2013 (GMT)

-
-
- I'd say "no" as far as calling any of these "artifacts". Our definition of the word varies from game to game, but one general rule is that artifacts be unique, and Welkynd/Varla/Sigil/Heart Stones are not. I've had a sanbdox sitting idle for a while which contains some of this sort of info (it doesn't have those magical stones, though Aetherium is covered). I suppose they could be added to the list. Most of these should at some point have their own articles, linked from the section headers or something. - And, of course, there's Watcher of Stones. I think the Stones of Power have a much stronger case due to their multiple appearances; I don't think they can be overlooked as game-specific like we've more or less been doing with immobile, power-granting magic stones up until now. Anyways, I realize it would be a big task, but all of these stones mentioned seem lore-worthy.

I think that would be best because I wouldn't want to create separate place pages for each individual stone, and I disfavor having place pages for types of places. I'm not sure whether there should be a separate "Magic Stones" appendix or if they should be folded into a broader appendix. Minor EditsThreats•Evidence 01:41, 28 March 2013 (GMT)

About the Mythic Dawn image[edit]
I took that screenshot, and yes, I did color correct it. I took it using the in-game starlight spell, which left the overall image a bit too green. I agree that I probably adjusted too much green out of it--would you rather I go back and add in more of the green, or look for a true 1/1/1 light source? 205.201.96.2 02:49, 22 April 2013 (GMT)

Invitation to join a translating team.[edit]
You are invited to join a team that will be attempting to translate the unknown language on the Word Wall in the 6th Chapter of the Black Book Waking Dreams, the Word Wall that gives the third word ( D3V ) of the Dragon Aspect shout. There are strange, moving words behind the Dragon Language text on the Wall, written in an unrecognisable language. The Dragon Language part of the Word Wall has already been translated. It is the moving words in the unrecognisable language that this project hopes to translate.
This project will be happening in my sandbox, which is open to collaboration by invited team members. The talk page of the sandbox is open to other contributors as well. I hope to see you get involved in the project. I have hand-picked you because you may have previously been involved in Elder Scrolls language translations in the past on the wiki, particularly if you worked on the Magic Script Alphabet or the Elder Alphabet pages.
Kind regards,

- I put the images, as accordying to Jeancy advice, but legoless replaced with normal pictures...--Ashendant (talk) 19:28, 5 May 2013 (GMT)

Lore:Planes of Oblivion WIP[edit]
Hi, Legoless. I noticed that you posted that you will only be semi-active for awhile, and you have a WIP tag on Lore:Planes of Oblivion, and I couldn't find a sandbox of yours with any related info. Are you still working on this? --Xyzzy Talk 17:08, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
- I've removed the notice. The main article could still do with a revamp, but most of the planes now have their own articles. —Legoless (talk) 17:52, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
Auri-El[edit]
Howdy Legoless. I just wanted to pick your brain about Auri-El's shield and bow. The Monomyth says "Auriel pleaded with Anu to take them back, but he had already filled their places with something else. But his soul was gentler and granted Auriel his Bow and Shield, so that he might save the Aldmer from the hordes of Men." This would imply Anu's soul, Anuiel, created Auri-El's shield and bow, not Auri-El. You credited their creation to Auri-El on their respective pages, citing the Arena/Daggerfall descriptions, which I'm not familiar with. Are these sources in conflict? - I had never even read that source, very interesting. There's no conflicting info about Auri-El actually creating them. Would you mind updating the artifact pages with this? —Legoless (talk) 19:11, 22 May 2013 (GMT)

Ash Spawn image[edit]
Hi, I've noticed that you added a clean-up tag for this image. File:DB-creature-Ash Spawn2.png I won't question it. Just a note for you. The original image can be found here. File:DB-creature-Ash Spawn.jpg It seems that Jimeee just want a 4:3 vision for his Neloth article. You may delete the png file and use the original image for Neloth. It might be an easy way to clean up this file. Dreamshadow (talk) 14:35, 30 June 2013 (GMT)
