Copyright Violations[edit]

I have been notified that a number of your edits have lifted images or text directly from the Fandom wiki. Plagiarising content, including images, and placing it on UESPWiki is unacceptable, and any plagiarised content will always be removed upon detection. If you are the same user who posted the original content elsewhere, please identify yourself accordingly before attempting to add the content again. UESPWiki encourages you to take your time and produce your own, non-plagiarised content for use on the site, and your help in doing so is appreciated. —Legoless (talk) 08:45, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Heard. I will not refer to the fandom site then. 333dragonb0rned (talk) 15:35, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
It's appreciated. Both sites have had issues with plagiarism over the years so we try to keep on top of it! —Legoless (talk) 15:38, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Hey there, I was just wondering where you got File:SynodFocusingCrystal.png from? Was it from a screenshot you took yourself in-game and edited, or from somewhere else? Anyway, let me know, thanks! The Rim of the Sky (talk) 22:34, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

I tried editing it out of a YouTube video. I haven’t used it because I’m not cut clear if content taken from other people’s in-game gameplay is a OK’d or not 333dragonb0rned (talk) 19:10, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
No worries, I'm not entirely sure about the exact practice we have but generally using cropped screenshots from youtube is fine as long as the source video is linked in the file description. For this file in particular, it looks like we already have an existing high-res image on the wiki already, so I've marked the photo for speedy deletion as it doesn't look like we'll benefit from a duplicate. I've known how to navigate the wiki for a long time but even for me our existing image was rather difficult to find, as its hidden on a list page with dozens of other items, so I don't blame you at all for not knowing we had a file already.
This is mostly due to a long-standing issue on the wiki of us lacking articles for specific items. If you're interested, you can create pages for these items like Skyrim:Focusing Crystal (in similar format to Skyrim:Broom) as we've allowed their creation for a couple years now, we just haven't had enough editors to make these pages. It's up to you if that's something you want to do. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! The Rim of the Sky (talk) 05:41, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

Edit Summaries[edit]

Hello, hope you're having a good day! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits without using the Edit Summary box. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, and edits with no edit summary can make it difficult to ascertain exactly what you are trying to accomplish. If you would like a handy reminder to leave one, you can go into preferences and go to the editing tab, and select the option "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary". Our patrollers really appreciate it when you use these. Thank you. AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:11, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

Some Advice[edit]

Hello, 333dragonb0rned. Thank you for your contributions to UESPWiki. I wanted to bring up a few concerns:

  • If you take issue with certain changes to a page, it is typically best to post on that page's talk page, not the user who made the edit. This way, other people with knowledge about the topic and wiki standards can easily find the discussion and contribute to form a consensus. It also keeps a record of previously formed consensuses that affect a page linked directly to that page. Furthermore, it helps show that your concerns are not aimed at a specific user but about the content in question.
  • Please re-read the advice about Edit Summaries that AKB left you above. I can see that you are still not describing your edits most of the time.
  • If you plan on reverting an edit, it's best to explain why on the talk page with more detail than you can leave in an edit summary. In almost all cases, do not revert a revert without reaching consensus first on the talk page.

These are common etiquette mistakes that happen with new editors, so please do not feel that you are doing anything out of line. If you apply this advice, you are well on your way to becoming a great UESPWiki contributor! —Dillonn241 (talk) 22:19, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Will do. 333dragonb0rned (talk) 22:27, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
