Copyright holder[edit]
Legally, isn't the copyright holder of any particular image the uploader(s), not UESP, as stated in the CC-BY-SA? Hello71 (talk) 03:54, 19 January 2013 (GMT)
- From the UESP copyright page.
- "Copyright information must be added to the image description of every image. The copyright for individual components of screenshots from Bethesda's games belongs to them, but copyright for the overall composition rests with the image creator, and is licensed to UESP, as with textual content. The copyright for company logos belongs to those companies, but we are allowed to host them under United States law's "fair use" doctrine. Other pictures should be available under the by-sa license or in the public domain. Any images that violate copyright are subject to deletion."
- There you go :) Jeancey (talk) 04:11, 19 January 2013 (GMT)

- Actually, that's a contradiction right there. The template says the copyright is held by UESP and the studio, while our Copyright page says it's held by the creator of the image and the studio. That said, I've yet to find anything that gives anybody other than Bethesda rights to any screenshots. This whole idea of copyrighting compositions seems to be based on the idea of image collages, which don't have any firm copyright status of their own, and screenshots are even less well tested in courts. Honestly, I think we should stop trying to claim any kind of copyright and just let the CC-BY-SA license be our guide (which basically says that if anybody wants to use our screen shots, they have to attribute those shots to us). – Robin Hood (talk) 04:42, 19 January 2013 (GMT)
Default to Zenimax for ON- images[edit]
I think this template should default the studio to Zenimax if the image name starts with ON instead of Bethesda. I did that to Template:Uespimage2 on dev. Any reason not to change this one? Same thing would probably be useful for {{esimage}} too. --Alfwyn (talk) 21:27, 1 March 2014 (GMT)
