It purges the server cache, forcing the server to update a page. This comes in handy when you upload a newer version of an image, but the page that displays the image is still using the older one. It's also good when working with DPL or whatever Dynamic List extension UESP uses.--Riddle 20:19, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Actually we don't use any kind of DPL - we just rely on categories. I've sometimes thought it would be worth using one, but apart from things like birthdays we just don't need it. rpeh •T•C•E• 20:22, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you had in mind for birthdays, but if you're thinking what I think you're thinking, you could probably just use catpagetemplate in much the same way I did on Category:Proposed Deletion (though maybe just year/month...I don't think we need a category for every last birthday). – Robin Hood↝talk 01:12, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
