Summary

This template can be used to indicate a misspelling or other error in the game or source materials (such as the physical books or Bethesda/ZeniMax web content). Hover text will appear indicating that the word should not be edited and, optionally, what the correct text should have been.

If you see this template next to an error, please do not correct it, as this means that the error is in the game or source materials, and should be preserved on the site.

Examples

Code Produces Explanation
{{sic|mispelled|misspelled}} mispelled [sic] If both the misspelled word and the correct spelling are specified as parameters, the hover text indicating that the word should not be edited will appear when hovering anywhere over the word and will include the correct spelling of the word.
{{sic|the the|the|description=duplicate word}} the the [sic] The hover text now refers to a "duplicate word" instead of an "error".
{{sic|House Ryl|House Rayn|description=error. All other sources that mention this say he is from House Rayn}} House Ryl [sic] Follow this format to describe the problem more in depth.
[[Lore:Books by Author#Adonato Leotelli|Adonato
{{sic|Leonetti|Leotelli|nolink=1}}]]
Adonato Leonetti The link to the Spelling page is not included, thus preserving the original link.
Falanu Hlaalu's Key{{sic|2=Falanu Hlaalu's Key}} Falanu Hlaalu's Key [sic] Use this method to add a sic tag in templates where adding the sic tag directly would cause problems. See Oblivion:Keys for an example.
{{sic|mispelled}} mispelled [sic] (Avoid if possible) If the misspelled word is specified as a parameter, the hover text indicating that the word should not be edited will appear when hovering anywhere over the word.
mispelled{{sic}} mispelled [sic] (Avoid if possible) If no parameters are specified, the template is placed after the misspelled word and the hover text indicating that the word should not be edited will only appear when hovering over the small space before the tag.
