Vanith Garos, seeker of the Legendary Mudcrab Slayer

Vanith Garos is a Dark Elf commoner who can be found in Raran Manor in Indal-ruhn. He has a passionate dislike of mudcrabs, and has therefore been somewhat enthused to hear about the existence of a legendary weapon known for killing the critters - the Legendary Mudcrab Carver. Unfortunately, with few funds of his own, he must turn to the charity of others in order to acquire the mighty armament.

During the events of his related quest 'The Mudcrab Slayer', he will die and his corpse can be found by the lakeside shore directly north of Indal-ruhn.

He wears a common shirt with matching pants and shoes. He carries 22 gold.

Aside from his natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by his ancestors, he knows no spells.

"My name's %Name. I used to be out on the streets of Almas Thirr, until I heard rumors of a mighty warrior who slayed mudcrabs of all shapes and sizes. His legendary weapon could slay anything, according to those visiting from Indal-ruhn. So I left for this village in the hopes that I might be able to wield the Legendary Mudcrab Carver."

• Greetings:

"Hello, traveler. You must be new in these parts. My name is Vanith Garos, and I'm a humble commoner from our wonderful little village of Indal-ruhn. But I won't be for long! I have a dream, you see. A dream of wielding the Legendary Mudcrab Carver!"

"Do you have the Legendary Mudcrab Carver?"

• Legendary Mudcrab Carver:

"It is the only weapon powerful enough to slay those horrid creatures of Oblivion known as "mudcrabs". Gah, even speaking the name has undoubtedly brought misfortune to our community. The wielder of this mighty tanto is a Dunmer named Alnas Driln, the guardian of our village."

• Continue:

"I was never strong enough to slay such wicked and powerful beasts. They dance around me as if I was a whimpering stone; every time I try to touch them they end up ripping into a piece of my flesh. So when I heard of this great weapon I knew I had to have it. Not just to protect myself, but to protect my loved ones too. So please, I need you to get that tanto from Alnas Driln -- so that I might be able to fight back against these mudcrabs. Will you help me?"

• Yes.:

"Oh, thank you, %PCName. Thank you so much! Now please, I don't care how you get it -- I need you to bring me that tanto." (Disposition up by 10)

• No.:

"Oh, fine, then. Well, if you ever wish to help a poor commoner like myself to defend himself from the cruel hostilities of this world, then you'll know where I'll be." (Disposition down by 5)

• Just to let you know, people here are pulling a prank on you. There is nothing legendary about mudcrabs.:

"Who? I don't know if you are the one pranking me, but I see mudcrabs and they are horrifyingly real. But for you outlanders, nothing exists until you have seen it with your eyes. This land is treacherous to the likes of you. One night you will wake up with a pair of pincers in your neck, but then it will be too late!"

"Please bring it to me as soon as you've retrieved it."

• Where can I find it again?:

"Alnas Driln has it. He uses the weapon to defend Indal-ruhn from the mudcrab menace. One day I will be as good as him and better!"
