Elder's Cairn Won't Open[edit]
(PC) I encountered a bug whereby the door to the "Elder's Cairn" would not open and allow me to proceed to the next cell. I gathered the ceremonial weapons and "placed" them in the door. The animation played and the door opening sound played, but nothing happened. I was only able to proceed to the next cell by using the console command "coc Volunruud02". I am using mods, so I cannot reproduce this bug in a clean environment. Hopefully this will help someone else, however. As a side note, the axe seemed misplaced in the door slot (it was too big). I do not know if this caused the bug or not. — Unsigned comment by 68.6.234.109 (talk) at 01:57 on 4 January 2012
- I don't know if you tried this but after the animation you have to "open" the door a second time. Philbert 00:05, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

- Just encountered the same issue in 2021 (guess they will never fix it) and bypassed it as follows:
- 1. Opened console and typed TCL to turn collisions off
- 2. Walked "into" the door (make sure you don't walk into the visible "blue" or else you will fall and return to the door where you first entered the dungeon)
- 3. Once "inside" the door, I slowly turned around inside the "dark area" with my cursor pointing into the "dark area" until I saw "open door" appear on the screen, clicked on it and the next screen loaded - it's hard to describe this since nothing is really visible in its normal state once you step inside the door
- 4. Opened console again, typed TCL to turn collisions back on
-
- Then went on my merry way to finally get the power word, kill the boss and collect some other goodies in the chamber.
-
- I've tried all other suggestions I could find prior to just walking inside the door and doing what I did - it was my last option and thankfully it worked. I hope this will help someone else who gets stuck because of the quest not starting for them like it happened to me. — Unsigned comment by 45.20.123.157 (talk) at 23:20 on 12 July 2021 (UTC)
Bug: Swinging Spike Wall fails to reset[edit]
A swinging spike wall may fail to reset as it can get caught on the hanging bones noisemaker next to it. If it occurs, it can block access to the Ceremonial Sword. Disabling and re-enabling the trap wall will fix this on PC. Uncertain about other potential fixes for console, however. 24.156.216.144 12:23, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- A work around on consoles would be to go to the top of the staircase opposite the stuck wall and use whirlwind sprint to fly across the gap to the second floor above the stuck door. — Unsigned comment by 72.80.135.142 (talk) at 17:05 on 18 September 2012
Contact's chamber[edit]
Just curious--I don't remember seeing the contact's chamber off to the left of the entryway--did something change inside Volunruud to give access to that area? (I plundered the ruins after being told by the Night Mother but before being directed there by Astrid.) --67.248.246.4 05:22, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Just reloaded a prior save and, it turns out, Astrid will have normal dialogue and won't really react if you've already visited here. --67.248.246.4 05:47, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Heddic[edit]
I've never seen his corpse in Volunruud. Is it disabled during the Brotherhood quests? Vicano (talk) 18:03, 26 September 2014 (GMT)
- I haven't seen his corpse either. It's initially disabled in the CK, I'll check the conditions when I have a bit more time. --Holomay (talk) 18:43, 26 September 2014 (GMT)
Missing Draugr[edit]
Near the start:
"Through the exit to the southwest is a short corridor with steps leading down into a room full of plants with six draugr laying on the floor, three of which are leveled."
These draugr were not present in my game. It's possible they only spawn there during the quest with Amaud Motierre, because I came to Volunruud before starting that quest. Please note this if someone else can confirm. Sporky (talk) 10:50, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
- Confirmed, they aren't there until Amaud is. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:51, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Weapons[edit]
The weapons Eduj and Okin are, respectively, Jude and Niko spelled backwards. — Unsigned comment by 73.110.46.79 (talk) at 01:34 on 18 May 2021 (UTC)
