weak?[edit]

Is it just me, or is Vigilance rather weak? — Unsigned comment by Hamlicar (talkcontribs) at 19:53 on 25 November 2011

Once he's died, is there a way to re-enable the dialog option to purchase him once you're resurrected him [through the console]? I tried adding him to the 'potential followers' faction, recycling him, etc., and nothing. Also tried recycling Banning. Dog appears in the right place, just don't have the ability to buy him. — Unsigned comment by 99.127.216.68 (talk) at 05:32 on 11 December 2011

What if Baning is dead?[edit]

If I killed Banning (for justifiable reasons of a... humanitarian kind)is there a way for me to still get Vigilance? ForsakenOne 14:26, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

if you can't buy it[edit]

maybe have someone have same problem

first i want buy Vigilance, but Banning say“you already have an animal with you” but i confirm never have one Stray dog with me so i think maybe is Barbas?(Quest:A Daedra's Best Friend,i completed)maybe a bug?

when i looked /wiki/Skyrim:Followers#Dogs know Meeko,i go to the Meeko's Shack, and talk to it。 it can follow me!let it following and then let it goback, then talk to Banning, now i can buy it — Unsigned comment by 69.197.151.69 (talk) at 12:26 on 5 February 2012

I can confirm that it works on the PC. Just be sure when you first ask Meeko to follow you, to head down the path, maybe wait for a random encounter before you dismiss him (tell Meeko to go home). You should observe the screen prompt that your dog has gone back to his home. Cleaverx (talk) 08:47, 23 January 2013 (GMT)

Armor[edit]

Surprised no one has mentioned this here yet, but a great way of making Vigilance a little more useful and sturdy is to equip him with some armor. I know you cannot trade him items, but if you use the console command openactorcontainer 1 with him targeted, you can get into his inventory. Give him some heavy armor and he will automatically equip it. He won't use weapons, but the armor really helps especially when you enchant it up with things like bonus health, armor, regen, heavy armor specilization, etc.
To make things even better, you can put weapon enchants on the gloves you give him (I used Vampire and Storms) and he will get those effects to his attacks, not to mention he looks pretty cool with lightning shooting around him (from the Storms enchant) all the time, as the enchant effect displays on his entire body. Thought I'd go ahead and add this too.  :)

Max level?[edit]

What's his max level? I believe the Wabbajack trick works on dog followers too, I believe. --Barfightbob 23:02, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

His level ranges between 6-50. Robin Hoodtalk 06:11, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

low health[edit]

his health is only 60. I tried the dismiss->disable/enable ->recruit trick that I could on the other hirelings and it doesn't work.

I really don't wanna get the mojo stick to fix it....please tell me why this dog isn't worth petting. Theindividual 10:39, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Bug - Stairs[edit]

Vigilance has issues with open wooden stairs. He gets stuck midway and then "floats" halfway off them. I can usually walk down the stairs past him and he'll unstick, but it's pretty funny and he whines while he's at it. I've had this happen both in homes and in towers. --Krykl 18:48, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Do you have any more information about this? What system are you on and what patch are you using? Has anyone else had this happen? eshetalk 17:28, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
