Name of Cave[edit]
This is a pretty gruesome name... any lore behind the name? — Unsigned comment by 92.28.161.98 (talk) at 12:15 on 11 April 2012
- Not that I'm aware of, I guess the people at Bethesda ran out of names to use for caves and ruins? Maybe it has something to do with the Falmer? Who knows? I agree though, it is a pretty weird name for a cave. RIM 12:19, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- A less gruesome interpretation is suggested from the physical character of the cave with an ice melt stream running through it. In toponymy the word bourne (also born or the word burn synonymous with Scotland) is an Anglo-Saxon word for stream (with older roots throughout Europe including Old Norse) The prefix still- can mean silent, hushed or calm. Although the cave is not so when entered in the game, it may have been so in the past when it got it's name or during times when there is no melt water. Odd occurence[edit]
As I exited the lower part of the cave back out to Skyrim, I witnessed a dead horse flying through the air. I was then attacked by 2 ice wraiths and a snowy sabre cat. This is the second time in almost 300 game hours that I have seen dead bodies ragdolling across the countryside as I enter a cell. Is this a known glitch? I don't recall reading about this anywhere. --Xyzzy 06:06, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've had the same thing happen to me in this general area at least twice now, right after loading saves. It's a brown horse, and it's always sort of south-west of Winterhold. I think it might be part of the wrecked caravan on the mountain path between this cave and Mount Anthor, but I'm not really sure. 211.30.204.200 13:31, 29 October 2013 (GMT)
No Respawn[edit]
(PS3 user) Stillborn Cave did not respawn in my game. Did a patch change something? MrC (talk) 03:45, 30 January 2014 (GMT)
