Stacking[edit]

Much belated reply because I've been looking into this lately. I'm pretty sure that multiple sources of slow stack geometrically (or something along those lines, anyway), so if someone casts Icy Spear and Frostbite, each of which has a different magic effect, and they have Augmented Frost 2, you'd be slowed to 25% of your speed for each spell if you have no resistances. That means that with those two spells alone, you'd be down to 6.25% of your original speed. Personally, I consider that to be a bug, or at least a playtesting oversight, because it often means that even mid-level characters will die slowly against low-level ice mages simply because they can't move. It also inordinately magnifies the effect of resistances so that players with maximum resistance are hardly affected at all.
This needs more testing, though, as I can't always make the math work out to the multiplier I see with the console command player.getav speedmult. Am I just flubbing the math or is there more to this than straight multiplication of effects? Is there a lower limit? When do resistances get applied? Robin Hood  (talk) 05:56, 9 November 2013 (GMT)

Is this purely movement speed?[edit]

Can you clarify what Slow actually affects? Is it just movement speed or is it also rate of attack? Thanks. --Irrevenant (talk) 06:14, 1 January 2013 (GMT)

Slow has a major bug in it which causes it to usually not affect NPCs at all. I just added details to the page. Robin Hood  (talk) 06:42, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
I wouldn't really agree with the idea of it being bugged. In testing I found that if you deplete the enemies stamina they appear to slow down every time. As in the decreasing of their stamina to 0 causes them to stop sprinting momentarily before resuming which causes them to slow down. As for the poisons which sadly don't deplete stamina...their best used with sneak attacks using bows. It's the only way to get the desired result right away. That and silently casting ice storms which strangely don't emit noise or draw attention while on the move. Point being... when it comes to frost you can expect to only slow enemies at higher levels and only after having shaved off 60% or more of their health(due to health/stamina ratios), except versus nords(roughly 30% health loss), unless you stealth attack with the ice storm. I suspect it may have been intended to function like this to balance out its otherwise overpowered nature versus enemy warriors. Though I usually dont have difficulty depleting their stamina quickly once I get ice storm or ice spear. Extremely useful against the ebony warrior given how low his stamina reserves are versus his 2k health. Also a lot of non-npcs(creatures) have either too much stamina to drain all the way or just never change sprint/normal movement stances. Rykros2005 (talk) 22:31, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
