50% resist frost[edit]
At first I doubted the value of this compared to say beserker or magic resist, however after playing a nord I found things like ice wraiths, frost dragons and undead mages to be "easy-mode" for nords.
Similar Appearance?[edit]
Doesn't the 1st Nord look like Dovahkiin, as in, the promo figure? - Feralas — Unsigned comment by Feralas (talk • contribs) at 14:27 on 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it's the default face. I assume that's why they used it in promotional material. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:27, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't it be noted that Nord's in Skyrim appear to be based off of Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in the 1980's movie, Conan The Barbarian? If you look at their skills, body build and NPCs accents, they just seem to SCREAM Arnold Schwarzenegger >_>
Battlecry Perk Applicable?[edit]
Does Battlecry gain the benefits from the Illusion perk "master of the mind". I.E Will battlecry then work on ALL enemies, not just animals and humans? — Unsigned comment by 109.149.149.7 (talk) at 23:10 on 4 December 2011 (UTC)
reply : considering it's not an illusion spell probably not.
I love how Battle Cry links to the Nord page. GG to whoever made that redirect. --Ravage 00:12, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- What exactly is your problem with the redirect? Battlecry is not a spell, and it's not a perk. It's a race-specific power. Battlecry redirects to the details about that race-specific power that are provided on the race page. There's not enough information for it to be a separate page, and I think the redirect to the race page makes far more sense than redirecting to Powers, because any additional information about Battlecry (e.g., how to use it, advantages, etc.) belongs on the Nord article.
- And if you're not willing to do any of the work to fix the problem yourself, then stop insulting those of us who have devoted thousands of hours to creating the content you're so quick to criticize. --NepheleTalk 08:52, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I think the issue is that the Nord page has a link to the Battlecry page which immediately redirects right back to the Nord page.Knucker 09:18, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Game racial-faction benefits?[edit]
Do Nords get any free passes in the lands of Skyrim that other races don't? (For example the orcs can go to the orc strongholds without questing).
Nords are genearally excepted by the people of skyrim, who are suprisingly, cough, Nords. XD--Br3admax 04:21, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
reply: In what way are they accepted that is different from another race? Except for the friendly greetings..
- There is very little difference in terms of gameplay if you play a Nord rather than some other race. You will likely hear "Skyrim is for the Nords!" a lot more often if you play a different race, but you're just as likely to hear this if you bring a Nord companion with you. There may be one point in the civil war main quest where you are forced to jump through an additional hoop if you are not a Nord, but there are no quests that are unavailable to you if you are not a Nord. You can be a Khajit Werewolf Dragonborn if you so choose. Kastagir 19:26, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- In-game dialogue with NPCs is often sympathetic to the Stormcloaks if you are a Nord Dragonborn. Other than that, there is no real difference in quests or availability of items. Rhoan 18:46, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
It's like oblivion, where its was easier for imperials to trust you more, but in the end its usually a small difference over the long run. Play what you want.Br3admax 18:54, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
Nords are ridiculed by other aggressive Nords. They say things like "You're a disgrace to your race!". (Aela said it to a Nord woman who was attacking me, kinda funny actually.)--Ravage 00:39, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
I ment if you agree with them of course.Br3admax 01:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Racism[edit]
While racism is indeed present in Skyrim, it is not practiced exclusively by the Nords. It does not effect gameplay and if it is included in the Nord's page, so should it be on other races such as the Altmer.Frostyinferno016 22:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)frostyinferno016
- Affect is a verb. Effect is a noun. Kastagir 19:28, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

- The discussion page is for talking about the article, not correcting other users' grammar. While we're doing that though, you should know that effect can also be a verb, but it means "to bring about or create" rather than "to cause an effect upon" like affect does. Affect can also be a noun, in case you're wondering. It basically means "feelings." Obviously the above did not mean to say "It does not bring about gameplay..." though.--SushiSquid 22:56, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- True enough, on all counts, though none of them apply to the above comment. Still, proper use of grammar is helpful in understanding topics of discussion. It may not be the case here that one's ability to understand the point is impeded by poor grammar, but I have certainly seen more extreme cases where it was. The talk page is most useful when it contains coherent passages. Call me a pedant. Kastagir 16:27, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- Is this really necessary guys? And to be on topic: The Altmer are like the Ku Klux Klan of Skyrim, but to an intensely extreme measure. They consider themselves superior to ALL other races, and act accordingly... I kill them at every opportunity just because they almost killed Aela once. And I rarely see Nords other than the 2 in Windhelm that are constantly drunk exhibit racism.--Ravage 02:29, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see how the Thalmor can be compared to the KKK. They "just" want to conquer the world and outlaw one the Nine Divines. Those racist scumbags, however, wish for a worldwide genocide. Also, that wasn't on topic at all, and pretty much every Stormcloak member/supporter make some harsh comments toward "foreigners" in their country and those "damn elves" Elakyn 21:52, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Gameplay section is worthless[edit]
Nords start with x,y,z skill. You can see this in the list below. Nords have x racial power. You can see this above the gameplay section.
Apparently writing how this can actually affect gameplay is too opinionated.-Themendios 01:10, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have removed the repetitive information and left the frost resistance and greater power in place. I agree that observations on the effects of gameplay are valid information, but they are beyond the scope of articles and better reserved for the talk page. - Arycon 01:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
-
- If the 'Gameplay' section isn't where observations on the effects on gameplay goes then what the hell is that section for?? -Themendios01:16, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

- I think the issue was more that it was written in the style of a single person's opinion (using words such as 'arguably'). If you were to rewrite that information using verifiable facts such as numbers and code from the PC console, or with the caveat "It has been observed", it would be more likely seen as objective. Like I said, I agree, but most won't. - Arycon 01:22, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

- All I did really was wipe out all personal opinion and add the bonuses. I think these pages might need an overhaul, though, due to the fact it mentions the skills and buffs in two different places.
- Oh, and I think Themendios might have broken the rule where you can't edit three times in a time period of an hour.--I a m g o o f b a l l--Need Something? Drop by on my Talk Page. What I've done for this site. 01:37, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

(←) There is no such rule. We don't penalize users for editing an article multiple times (unless they make a ridiculous amount of edits to the same article over a short time-span)/ I assume you're thinking of 3RR. I see a single revert on his part. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:46, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ignoring all the squabbling, ultimately this latest edit seems to be an objective assessment of the race's skills affecting gameplay. IMO, it should be left at that. - Arycon 03:59, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I've seen many early edits in the weeks after Skyrim's release that are heavily biased by personal opinion or observation and these comments are thankfully being removed. The best use of the wiki is to provide information that a new, unexperienced player can learn about the differences between the races and come to their own conclusion as to which best fits their playstyle. It's not the job of the contributors to give advice on how to play the game. At least not on the main page - feel free to include such comments on the talk page. Eyes[edit]
- This is starting to piss me off. My nord has a scarred left eye and normal right eye. Except now it looks like the eyes are missing and have some weird cartoonish hypnotizing spiral in BOTH of them. Anyone experiencing this, and know a way to fix it with the console, or normally? I play without a helmet to look my best, and this is definately, not. my. best.--Ravage 19:44, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've never heard of this before, but you can try ENABLERACEMENU and see if changing the eyes and then changing them back fixes it. Just be sure you don't have any active effects you can't get back or you'll lose them.
- Sometimes my Nord character's eyes turn into reddish black holes, including the eye lashes. I thought this might be because I activated the Werewolf transformation earlier. Usually it goes away after a while of game play though, and her eyes goes back to blue again.

How Is Battlecry Used?[edit]
This is my first time playing a Nord and I am having real trouble with the boss fight on The Break of Dawn quest at master-level difficulty. I decided to use the Battlecry power for the first time and nothing happens, the enemies keep attacking. King Mango (talk) 20:15, 15 January 2013 (GMT)
