How to tell people that none of the approaches to get multiple rewards works with patched Skyrim?[edit]
I spent 25 minutes fruitlessly trying all four approaches under Skyrim:Ill Met By Moonlight#Multiple Rewards only to discover none of them work if you have the unofficial Skyrim patch installed . To improve this page I added "so long as you do not have the latest Unofficial Skyrim Patch installed", but User:The Silencer reverted it with "no proviso will be given as the USKP is a mod and not official"
But pages here are full of "This issue has been addressed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch", so it's silly to pretend the Unofficial Skyrim Patch isn't a central aspect of gameplay. It does no harm to the page to warn people that none of them work with the patch installed. If you read the page carefully you can infer this from the paragraph under Notes about having two Daedric items which says "This issue has been addressed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; it now prevents you obtaining both rewards". If there's no acceptable way to reference the patch at the point in the walkthrough that goes through all the strategies, how about rewriting the section to say "There is a bug that allows several ways to obtain both rewards or both rings..." which would at least hint that the Unofficial Skyrim Patch might, and in fact does, fix the behavior? -- Skierpage (talk) 23:41, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- I agree that listing all of these methods without a warning is not helpful for readers. The best solution may be to move the Unofficial Skyrim Patch notice from the notes section to just below the "Multiple Rewards" box. It would then be clearly visible before clicking show. Receiving multiple rewards is arguably a bug, so it's inconsistent to not say the patch fixes it. However, I suggest waiting for Silencer to offer some input before editing the page again. —Dillonn241 (talk) 08:07, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

- As I said in my summary, the unofficial patches are, quite un-ironically, unofficial. That means that they are not a part of normal gameplay for the majority of players, nor are they affiliated or endorsed by the UESP. The page already includes the information that the unofficial patches stop you getting two rewards. This is a bug, it always has been and always will be, because it was not intended to be possible, and Bethesda have attempted to prevent it (they successfully patched one method). Because the unofficial patches are unofficial, we will never give a "warning" anywhere about them, it is at your own discretion to use them, and you should be reading the documented changes of any mods you use (the same as you should read the T&Cs of things you sign up to). By strict interpretations of our guidelines, the methods shouldn't even be documented here given that they are an Exploitable Glitch, but discretion allows it. Possible to kill Sinding before extra hunters spawn[edit]
On a recent playthrough, I decided to equip my most powerful bow and arrows and from a sneaking position as soon as I saw him on the rock I shot and killed him. From there the quest progressed to the end as normal - I skinned him and then spoke with Hircine and received my Saviour's Hide.
Perhaps it would be worth mentioning this in the article; I assumed it would not be possible as there was no mention on the page but thought I would try anyway? Syko Conor (talk) 22:10, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
White stag kill tip[edit]
If you struggle due it regen, cast fury spell on it. Spell makes it attack you and not flee. — Unsigned comment by 91.102.78.191 (talk) at 08:23 on 7 October 2018
Getting both rewards with LE Patch[edit]
After realizing that my LE patch prevented me from getting both of the rewards, I simple went into my mod manager and unchecked the LE patch. I loaded into the game and followed the posted steps to get both items. Pease note that I did absolutely nothing else since I knew other features would be missing and I didn't want to crash my game. I followed the steps to claim both items and then saved under a new save. Exited Skyrim. Rechecked the LE patch in my mod manager and reloaded the game. I use quite a bit of mobs and I'm relatively new with managing them and it caused no issues other than having to unequip then reequip some armor from the mannequins in my home. I wanted to add this to the list of fixes to get both items but I have no idea how to edit the page. I hope this helps someone. StewartCE (talk) 06:26, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- This is the equivalent of removing a mod and then reinstalling it. It may not cause any problems, but it's also very possible that it'll cause issues down the line. Commonly, quests, items, spells, or effects that were fully re-written by the patch will disappear or fail to work properly. Items from the base game that were simply modified may continue to work normally, but even those could break, depending exactly what was done. It's never a good idea to uninstall a mod/patch mid-game unless you intend for it to be removed permanently (and even then, removed mods can cause game lag and other unwanted issues). – Robin Hood (talk) 08:04, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
Bug spotted: slippery Sinding[edit]
What is the expected procedure to document a bug here? I assume my report alone is not enough. This is on Xbox Series X.
After I talked to Hircine, the game told me to "begin the hunt." I didn't see any indication from Hircine of where Sinding's safe place was. Thinking this might work like Windhelm's Blood on the Ice with a CSI aspect, I returned to the jail to find Sinding in werewolf form.
Looking on here, I saw I was supposed to go Bloated Man's Grotto, and sure enough there was a quest marker there. So I went all over the cave, using Detect Life and not seeing anything.
I looked at the map again to see a quest marker "kill Sinding" near Helgen. As I fast-travelled and tracked the marker, it moved up toward Whiterun where I caught up with him.
He had a "talk to Sinding" action on him, but pressing A didn't do anything. So I killed and skinned him, Hircine appeared, and the quest ended. I had intended to save him... --Jesdisciple (talk) 07:33, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
Unkillable Hunters[edit]
Doing this quest as a werewolf, several of the hunters started taking little or no damage from my hits. It seemed to happen after I got the kill animation...instead of dying, they'd get back up from that and then be immune to further damage. After the first time, I reloaded and the same thing happened the next try. Reloading yet again, I stayed as humanoid, and the quest proceeded normally. Looking in the archive, I see one other mention of a hunter being unkillable, but it's unclear if it's the same issue or not. Anyone else experiencing this? – Robin Hood (talk) 14:40, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
