Eydis

Are we sure this is the same Eydis? Eydis seems to be name that gets re-used a lot - there are at least 3 Nord women called Eydis in the Elder Scrolls universe. Vicano (talk) 16:53, 21 August 2013 (GMT)

Second edit: Her supposed reference to Firir does not exist. In fact, no NPC ever mentions him by name as far as I can see. The dialogue between Skuli and Eydis goes as such:

Skuli: "Mama, where did papa go?"

Eydis: "He's off fighting the war, dear. For the Stormcloaks."

Skuli: "Last time you said he was fighting for the Empire."

Eydis: "Yes. I'm sure he's doing well there."

As such, I believe that the edit that added this claim was incorrect, and we should revert to the previous version. But due to this added confusion, does anyone else have anything to add, or evidence that I might of missed? --AKB ^{Talk Cont Mail} 17:16, 21 August 2013 (GMT)

Yeah but the thing is, the Dragonborn Eydis (obviously) didn't exist in the vanilla game, so it is much more likely Firir is referring to the other one in the Old Hroldan Inn. MJ The Unrelenting (talk) 03:55, 24 October 2013 (GMT)

They are so close in proximity (Chillwind is reasonably close to Old Hroldan Inn) that I think that there isn't any issue in ascribing the note to the Eydis there rather than the one added a year and a half later in an add-on which has zero connection to Firir. Is there anyone who seriously believes otherwise, and if so, cares to try and explain why? I may just not be seeing the other side of this very well. Jeancey (talk) 15:55, 15 January 2014 (GMT)

Having changed the note back to its only logical standpoint I just wanted to make a note here. There can be no question about the Eydis in Dragonborn being involved with this note, as the note and Eydis (Old Hroldan) existed long before Dragonborn's release. Indeed when someone noticed the connection before Dragonborn was released, they made that not impossible leap that the only person in the game named Eydis was the same Eydis named in the note. The only question is whether or not Firir is Eydis' missing husband, as she claims he is a soldier (which may be exaggeration on her part), and he is not named. Is it possible that "Elys" is the unnamed dead Female Redguard found with the Merchant's Journal? There are Falmer arrows around the area you find the Redguard, Chillwind Depths is the closest Falmer cave to the area you find her, and the journal talks about a nameless husband. While it's true Eydis is a Nord name and Firir's note makes it sound like she wasn't with him at the time of the ambush, it's also the sort of tragically ironic thing you often find in Tamriel.
