Map Location[edit]

Whenever I've met Faldrus and he tells me about Azura's Shrine, my map never updates with its location. This is on Xbox. Anyone else have this minor issue? 76.185.41.201 01:56, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

I just noticed this too. This has happened while playing both the Xbox 360 and the PC version of the game. --Blackpete (talk) 09:46, 17 March 2014 (GMT)
Well, but doesn't that start the quest? This should mark the shrine by way of the quest pointer. --Alfwyn (talk) 10:18, 17 March 2014 (GMT)
The dialogue will start the quest DA01Intro by setting WJS10 to stage 100. But unlike the innkeepers telling of the shrine there is no script to add the map marker. But the objective "Visit the Shrine of Azura" will be given. I guess the quest pointer is meant when he says "I'll mark it on your map." --Alfwyn (talk) 10:52, 17 March 2014 (GMT)

Faldrus often killed[edit]

"He is not often seen later, as he is usually killed on the road by wandering monsters."

Does this mean monsters wandering close to the temple (after him reaching it) or that he never actually makes it there?

(The position of the sentence suggests the former; the mention of "on the road" the latter.) CapnZapp (talk) 15:48, 4 October 2012 (GMT)

Where Did He Go?[edit]

I met Faldrus and he reached Azura's Shrine, but when I went back to find him he was gone. Does he disappear from the game or return to traveling again? — Unsigned comment by Bepeasej20 (talkcontribs) at 22:21 on 29 June 2013

He disappears. The quest WEJS10 triggering DA01Intro calls DeleteWhenAble() on him in stage 255. Once the cell he is in is purged form memory, so will he. --Alfwyn (talk) 10:35, 17 March 2014 (GMT)
My experience: he just wonders around Skyrim without end, looks like he can not find the shrine :) I met him at year 201 and later too, even in year 203, he is still "on the pilgrimage". 162.216.46.100 10:56, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Normally posting in an old discussion like this would have been called "necroposting" and removed, as it is highly unlikely the original participants of the discussion would be around to follow up. However, here it might be relevant to tie it to the old discussion.
As Faldrus is scripted to be deleted from the game at a certain point, if he has not died or otherwise been removed in any other way at an earlier point, your observation might be interesting. There are a couple of questions tied to it, though.
What platform were you playing? If it was PC, did you have any mods installed?
When you observed him wandering around in 4E 201 and 4E 203, had you talked to him earlier, and gotten the direction to the Shrine of Azura? If you had been talking to him, had you visited the Shrine afterwards, and if so, how far down the related quest were you? —MortenOSlash (talk) 16:24, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
I've made the same observation: he just wonders around Skyrim forever, always on the same pilgrimage, yet never actually arriving at the destination (maybe he believes the journey itself is more important). For example, I've encountered him outside of Heljarchen traveling west on the road (the shrine is the other way, buddy!), or going south toward Riften from Windhelm. Usually, he is wearing different clothing or armor every time I encounter him. There have been times I've almost killed him, mistaking him for a random attacker. I'm on PC, the Special Edition. I do have armor and weapon mods (which might explain why his gear changes between encounters), but as I said: he never actually reaches the shrine, and doesn't even seem to ever be traveling in the right direction to get there.173.23.16.189

He does in fact sometimes reach the shrine.[edit]

I actually did follow him as I am playing a Dunmer ...I met him and the first time asked and got the mark...fortunately I had just saved...soon after got bear bit and reloaded but this time since I knew what he was I just followed to see what happened...he did indeed take a very circuitous route, but I also watched him defeat quite a few road encounters quite easily...he takes a weird turn cross country near Heljarchen but corrects halfway up hill back onto a road...or trail...that does indeed wind up to the shrine from the southwest once there he went to the top but lined up on the invocation altar.. the small, tall trapezoid looks like it holds a book? to the left of the large white table altar ...I know that in my recent readings I have come across references to using glow dust and perhaps the invocation of Azura on a specific night of the year IF it's not storming...will have to dig for where I found that...but I am in fact in that process of finding a way to Hunt him down and those references to augment a game thread of Jenassa, Teldryn and Arenea and a few other dark elf follower options I've stumbled on to activate The Scarlett with a Dunmeri aspect to the east empire quests from Windhelm to Solstheim...yeah I spell badly on the phone since the priestess is no longer talking with Azura and just going through the motions but is available as a follower was thinking of utilizing either nff and mhiyh or proteus to grab Faldrus on site at the temple as a momentary follower to set his home before ending the stage to see if he gets assigned but if not grab him and clone him as a keeper of the hearth there in her place...but yeah I have seen him actually at the shrine more than just that once...IF I DONT GET THERE BEFORE HIM...I've never seen him in game at all if I questline the star white or black...is there any way to find an refid or relative spawn point? He seems to be timing driven on some occasions or maybe it's a reaction to travel state? I've most often contacted him, west of Whiterun when I am traveling on foot... it's not on the wiki
