Sigrid walking through the streets of Riverwood

Sigrid is a Nord living in Riverwood with her husband Alvor, the local blacksmith. She spends most of her day walking around the streets of Riverwood. If you choose to follow Hadvar during the quest Unbound, she and her husband will welcome you into their home. She has a daughter named Dorthe. She tends the garden behind the Sleeping Giant Inn during the day.

She wears a set of clothes and a pair of boots. She carries a key to Alvor's house and sometimes a belted tunic or a piece of food. She wields an iron dagger.

Dialogue[edit]

When approached, Sigrid can greet you with:

"Ain't used to strangers here in Riverwood."
"Alvor and I, we got a daughter. Little Dorthe."
"My girl likes to work the forge with her papa."
"All of that blacksmithing... It's not good for a little girl. Ain't... ladylike."
"I'm spoken for, you know. So don't get any ideas." (If your character is male)
"You're pretty, I'll give ya that. Just stay away from my husband, Alvor." (If your character is female)
"He would dote on her so much. Let her work the forge and everything. I miss him so." (If Alvor is dead)

In the garden, she has additional lines of dialogue:

"Dorthe needs to spend more time in the garden. I could use the help."
"It don't matter what I grow - my Alvor, he'll eat anything."
"Maybe I'll do turnips next. Hmmm... Or maybe radishes?"

If spoken to:

What do you think about the war?
"I just hope the war doesn't come to Riverwood. There's enough trouble in the world without those Stormcloaks stirring up more."
How do I get to Whiterun from here?
"Just follow the road north. When you get to Honningbrew Meadery, turn left and the road will take you to the city gates. It's not far. We used to go to the market there every month or so, until the roads got so dangerous with the war and all."

Conversations[edit]

Alvor: "Sigrid! Love of my life! When you get a spare moment, I could use some water."
Sigrid: "Don't you sweet talk me, Alvor. Not after last night. I'll bring you water when I'm done with my other chores."
Alvor: "Woman, you'll be the death of me yet. Fine, take your time. I'll just die of thirst in the heat of this forge."

Sigrid: "I've got some fresh cabbage. I'm thinking of making some apple cabbage stew."
Alvor: "Dorthe won't eat that. Are you trying to starve the child?"
Sigrid: "She needs to learn to eat what I serve her. I swear, you spoil that child rotten. Besides, it's one of your favorites."
Alvor: "Ay, it is. I suppose it won't hurt the girl to eat it this once. And speaking of spoiling Dorthe, who made her a new doll last week?"
Sigrid: "Just never you mind about that."

Hilde: "It seems like Dorthe grows a head taller every season."
Sigrid: "Aye. She's helping me in the house, and even helps her father at the forge."
Hilde: "She'll make a fine wife someday."
Sigrid: "Thank Shor I have a lot of years before I have to worry about that!"

Embry: "Care to have a drink with me, sweet Sigrid?"
Sigrid: "Drunk again, Embry? Don't let Alvor hear you talking to me that way. He'll stick your head in his forge."
Embry: "So that's a no I take it?"

When the family enjoys quality time together, it is quite common to hear Sigrid argue with her daughter, who at times drags her innocent father, Alvor, into the conversation. Sigrid and Dorthe will choose between three random lines:

Speaker Conversation
Sigrid "Dorthe, dear, I've been growin' some really lovely vegetables. Maybe tomorrow you could help me plant a new patch? What do you say?"
"Dorthe... I was thinkin' I'd knit a couple of blankets, sell them to Lucan. Would you like to make one? Might be fun, workin' together."
"You know, Dorthe, with all those vegetables I've been growing lately, I was thinkin' we could make a right lovely stew. Together. How about it?"
Dorthe "Oh. Um. Well... You see..."
"Wow. Yeah. That sounds great, mother. Only, um... it's just that..."
"Oooh. Ahhh... Well... See, the thing is..."
Sigrid "Shor's crown! There are things ladies like us are supposed to do. We've talked about this..."
"Let me guess. You'd rather play 'Daedra and Battlemages' with Ordnar. Or go fishing, or catch frogs..."
"Dorthe, listen to me. Your father and your friend may treat you like a boy, but you're not. Do you understand? So please. Be a girl. For me."
Dorthe "It's just that papa promised I could make something at the forge. So maybe we could do something together, hmmm... next week? Is... that okay?"
"Just stop trying to change me, mother! I'm not a baby anymore! I'm almost a woman! I... I can't be who I want to be!"
"I'm sorry, mother. I can't help it. All that stuff you like to do, it's just so... boring."
Alvor "Ho, now... Keep me out of this..."
Sigrid "Fine. You play in the mud, or play with your father's forge, or get into sword fights with your little friend. But this is not over."
"Oh, Dorthe. You're breaking your mother's heart, you know that?"
"Well. I can see your father and I are going to have to talk about this. And when we do, things are going to change."

Notes[edit]

  • Though her class is technically Blacksmith, she provides no such services, as she lacks the necessary merchant factions.
