Hayle was a Yokudan boy who was murdered by the Imperial soldiers about three months before Cyrus' arrival on Stros M'Kai. He was the son of Saban, a powerful witchmother, and the older brother of Coyle. He was born under the sign of the Serpent.

Hayle had been helping Cyrus' sister Iszara shortly before his death. She needed Saban's magic to restore the soul of Prince A'tor using Voa's ring and the soul gem holding A'tor's soul. Hayle was leading Iszara to the Yokudan camp to meet his family when they were attacked by as many as ten soldiers. Iszara fought them off and brought Hayle into camp, all bleeding. She tried to explain the incident to Saban, but Hayle's mother was very upset and blamed Iszara for her son's injuries, sending her away. Hayle died soon after that, and his family buried him at the camp.

With N'Gasta's soul snare trapping anyone who dies without proper ritual on the island, Saban began a burial ritual immediately, which involved chanting a song in Yoku. Governor Richton banned the Yokudans from the city the next day, and they all left for the Hammerfell mainland except for Saban and Coyle. It would have been easy for Saban to guide her son's soul to the Far Shores, but the Serpent's path through the heavens is too difficult to predict.

Hayle used to listen to Avik play music to charm his snake, Slinky. With his death, Avik was left without a regular audience and plans to leave Stros M'Kai soon. Speaking to Avik gives you the information needed to gain Coyle's trust. By investigating the Dwarven Ruins and finding a Dwarven gear, you can repair the Observatory to learn the Serpent's path. This knowledge allows you to place the starstones in the correct position—the Serpent's head and tail—on the sand map drawn by Saban. Hayle's soul will be saved and pass on to the Far Shores, the Redguard afterlife. Saban will be free to talk to you now, and she will offer her magic as Hayle originally intended once you acquire Voa's ring and the soul gem.
