Quest-Related Events[edit]
Her husband Darius, will explain the circumstances which lead her to wrongful death and will ask you to find her body and properly consecrate it. You must find and examine her corpse, which is near the skyshard.
- <A wooden ring on the corpse's decaying hand indicates this must be Zariya. Darius may want the ring as a keepsake of his wife.>
When you identify the body by her wooden ring, her angered spirit will appear beside you. When you talk to her, you quickly learn that she isn't ready to move on yet.
- "If you have come to search my remains for the gems I was accused of stealing, then you are both a coward and a fool.
You will not find the gems here, only the corpse of a good woman who did not deserve this dishonor." - Your husband sent me to consecrate your remains.
- "No! Wait! Please do not!
It is sweet of Darius to try to do this for me, but I am not ready to go to the Far Shores. My body was dumped here for a crime I did not commit, and I would see myself exonerated before I rest." - Do you have some way of proving your innocence?
- "I do. The fiends who did this to me, my brother and his friends … their remains are here too.
They framed me for stealing valuable gems, but the truth was that they swallowed the gems. They died with the proof of my innocence in their guts!" - So the gems are here in the burial grounds?
- "Yes, as the corpses of the dirty dogs have decomposed, the gems have been … exposed.
If you would recover these gems, that would prove my innocence." - [Persuade] It's too late for that. You should be content just to be consecrated.
- "You would allow these smug bastards to get away with it?
I suppose they paid for their crimes already … didn't they? I am grateful that my sweet Darius cared enough to come and consecrate my remains. I suppose this is enough." - Then may your journey to the Far Shores be peaceful.
- "You would allow these smug bastards to get away with it?
- I will recover the gems then.
- "Oh! Tu'whacca bless your soul! This will be immensely satisfying!
Search the corpses of my brother Thadret, Hillid the Blade, and Islaif the Highwayman. I expect their spirits may come forth. I may show up as well … just to watch you smite them." - As you wish.
- "Oh! Tu'whacca bless your soul! This will be immensely satisfying!
If you agree to recover the gems, she will appear as you find one of the bodies and call out to them.
- Hillid the Blade
- Zariya: "Hillid the Blade, you cowardly liar!"
- Zariya: "Show yourself!"
- <A hostile Hillid will emerge from the bones.>
- Hillid the Blade: "You got what you deserved wench!"
- Islaif the Highwayman
- Zariya: "Islaif the Highwayman, you dirty dog!"
- Zariya: "Show yourself!"
- <A hostile Islaif will emerge from the bones.>
- Islaif the Highwayman: "You betrayed us first!"
- Thadret
- Zariya: "Thadret, being your sister was my greatest dishonor. You disgust me!"
- Zariya: "Show yourself!"
- <A hostile Thadret will emerge from the bones.>
- Thadret: "You're a fool, Zariya, even in death!"
After you have recovered all the stolen gems, you can return to Zariya's spirit.
- "May those bastards' evil souls languish here for all eternity!
Now we must only nullify the wrong they did to me in life. If you will take the gemstones back to Darius, he can present them to the authorities and prove my innocence." - Then your spirit can rest?
- "Justice is done. Thank you for your part in this.
I am ready to go to the Far Shores even now. Take my ring and the gems to Darius. I know he will see this through, and with that knowledge, I can rest." - Then are you ready for me to consecrate your remains?
- "I am. Do what you came here to do. Goodbye."
- Be at peace, Zariya.
Her spirit will then fade away, and you can then pour the funerary oils to her body and return to Darius with the gems in hand.
However, if you decided to persuade to accept the consecration without recovering the gems, you can use the funerary oils on her body and her spirit dissipates into Aetherius.
