I've learned all I can at Othrenis. Onuja says that Balreth is somewhere near Ash Mountain. Garyn Indoril has led many Pact soldiers there with hopes of containing the Brother of Strife.
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Talk to Onuja at Othrenis.
- Return to Garyn Indoril on Ash Mountain.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Talk to Onuja at the bottom of the stairs after completing the quest Rending Flames.
- "It's true. I was cowering here, but I was hoping you would survive the entire time.
Um, did you learn how to bind Balreth?" - Yes, I'm ready. What now?
- "Ash Mountain. Go north to the mountainside. Garyn Indoril took troops there to deal with Balreth.
They're still there, if he hasn't killed them all. I'm not going to find out." - I'll find Garyn and tell him what I've learned.
Head first west along the road, and then north at the wayshrine, across the bridge to the island surrounded by lava flows. You'll find Garyn in front of a tent in a Pact camp.
- "Rumblings from the mountain have us all on edge. Balreth is up there somewhere.
I hope you've brought good news." - I spoke with a Mage from the past and learned how to bind Balreth.
- "Excellent! My friend, you are an asset and blessing on the Pact. I sense the hand of the Three here."

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,

) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
