Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Tamien Sellan says that the Bloodthorn Cult is rounding up villagers at the docks to turn them into zombies. He wants to save them from that fate. Tamien tells you about a spell that is set up in his father's house. This spell could help protect the villagers, and asks you to convince Dame Clarique to let him go so that he can help.
If you don't have the Persuasion Perk, Dame Clarique suggests that you should first free 4 villagers (each guarded by two cultists). You will be given a Bottle of Masking Salve to help the villagers conceal themselves for a safe escape. After you've helped four villagers, you'll be able to enter the house and cast the spell. If you persuaded Dame Clarique to set Tamien free, he runs off to free the villagers, allowing you to enter the house and deal with the spell.
The steps to cast the spell, which are listed in the book downstairs, are as follows:
- Recite the incantation
- Place the Masking Salve
- Light the Ritual Candle
- Place the Glass Gems
Don't place any Shrouding Ashes. If you make an error, the spell "fizzes" and you'll be able to make another attempt. Once you successfully cast the spell, the air changes, and Merien Sellan appears. Speak with him to end the quest.
Quest Stages[edit]

) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
