Quest-Related Events[edit]
- "You look like the strong sort. Care to help out an enterprising Dunmer, like myself?"
- What kind of help do you need?
- "The Blessed Crucible is a dangerous, but profitable place to make your fortune. As it happens, I have some coin to wager, but I've been waiting for a group of competitors that are worth the risk. You look to fit the bill."
- What makes you say that?
- "Trust me. I've an eye for these kinds of things. Are you in or out? I'll share my winnings with you, if you do well.
Honestly, we can make a fortune here. The real trick is getting inside." - Sure, why not?
- "Are you ready to head inside?"
- What is the Blessed Crucible?
- "I thought everyone knew of The Blessed Crucible! The ancient arena where warriors are forged into champions? The no-holds-barred fight to the death, where the winner is crowned Champion of the Crucible and awarded the Brimstone Crown?"
- Brimstone Crown?
- "A relic from a lost age, forged in the planes of Oblivion. That's the tale, anyway.
Honestly, I've no idea where it really came from, but I've seen countless deaths and gallons of blood spilled by warriors trying to win it."- Sounds like quite the challenge.
- "Are you ready to head inside?"
- Yes, I'm ready.
- "Good, I was beginning to worry you got cold feet."
- Let's move.
At this point, Talres will approach the gates and the Crucible Enforcer:
- Talres Voren: "Walk this way."
- Talres Voren: "Technically, I've been banned from the Crucible, but they can't possibly turn away a group of fresh fighters."
He addresses the Orc enforcer.
- Talres Voren: "Ahh, it's good to be back! Guards, would you be so kind as to open the gates? I bring fresh fighters for the games!"
- Crucible Enforcer: "You ain't allowed in here, Talres. You know that."
- Talres Voren: "I brought you some new competitors! Surely, you can make an exception. Now, be a good lad and open the gates?"
- Crucible Enforcer: "I'll be the judge of it! Let's see if they've got the right stuff. Durzogs, attack!"
- <The Crucible Durzogs become hostile.>
After the Durzogs have been killed:
- Talres Voren: "Well, there's your answer. Now kindly open the gates; there's a good lad!"
- Crucible Enforcer: "Hmph. I guess that'll do. Open the gates!"
Once inside, some of the gladiators will address Talres, demanding money he allegedly owes them.
- Gladiator Fearmage: "If it isn't our old friend, Talres! I hope you've brought the money you owe us."
- Talres Voren: "Don't be ridiculous! Your man forfeited the match. I owe you nothing!"
- Gladiator Fearmage: "Lies! There was no forfeit. You lost, and now it's time to pay. Coin or flesh, the choice is yours."
- Talres Voren: "Now, now. Surely we can come to some mutually beneficial arrangement...."
- Gladiator Fearmage: "Enough talk. Kill them all!"
- <The Gladiator group becomes hostile.>
After the gladiators are dead, Talres will comment:
- Talres Voren: "Well, that was rather unpleasant."
He will then lead you to the doors of the arena, which are guarded by Grunt the Clever.
- Talres Voren: "This is where we part, my friends. I will see you inside. Speak to my giant friend here, to gain entrance."
After you enter the Blessed Crucible, he will be waiting for you.
- Talres Voren: "Over here."
Speak with him.
- "You made it. Won over the giant with your charm, no doubt."
- Something like that. What now?
- "The first arena is called The Pit—an accurate, if unimaginative appellation.
The Pit's current champions are The Pack. They can only move on by defeating all of the other challengers, yourself included."- You've bet against them before?
- "Indeed I have. And that's put me in their debt. More than I can ever hope to repay.
But then, you can't be in debt to dead men, can you? That's where you come in. And I've a plan that might tip the odds in your favor."
- What is the Blessed Crucible?
- (Repeat from above)
During the fight against The Pack, Talres be in the audience and he will attempt to aid you by throwing health potions down into the arena.
- Talres Voren: "Excellent! You're doing very well!"
When throwing potions down:
- Talres Voren: "Use this to defeat them!"
Once the Pack is dead, you will need to find Talres after fighting you way through the arenas and living quarters. After the Beast Master is dead, you can free him.
- Talres Voren: "(?)"
Speaking with him:
- "Thank the Tribunal that's over. Please cut me free."
- They're calling us cheaters.
- "Apparently there are very strict rules against cheating, here. When I threw that potion into the arena, the guards grabbed me. Said they were going to feed me to those beasts you slayed.
We're free, but I don't think we can go back the way we came." - So, how do we get out of here?
- "That's the rub. I'm afraid our only chance is to push on and win this thing. The guards must show respect to the Champion of the Blessed Crucible.
The current champion is the Lava Queen. She's held the Brimstone Crown for over three hundred years!" - So, if I win the Crown, the Guards have to obey me?
- "That's my understanding, yes.
This is our only chance. Don't muck it up. And good luck!" - I'll defeat the Lava Queen and win this thing.
Talres Voren will appear again once the Lava Queen has been killed.
- Talres Voren: "Well played! Well played, indeed!"
You can talk to him to complete the quest.
- "She's dead! I can't believe it!"
- The Lava Queen is defeated.
- "Remarkable! Really, just amazing! You're the new Champion of the Blessed Crucible, inheritor of the Brimstone Crown!
Let all in attendance know that the Champion walks here. Let no one bar your path!"
Afterwards he can asked what his future plans are:
- "Greetings, Champion"
- What will you do now?
- "Truth? I'm thinking of retiring. Time will tell, though.
I suspect you'll be defending your crown for years to come. I can't let you do that alone, can I?"
