Quick Walkthrough

1. Find Brendar inside Shroud Hearth Barrow.
2. Defeat the necromancer.
3. Report to Brendar in Ivarstead.

Detailed Walkthrough

Enter the barrow, and proceed to the northwestern section within. There, you will find Brendar sitting atop a stone table. He tells you that he entered the barrow to try and run off a grave robber, only to discover the man he followed was experimenting on both the living and the dead. He begs for you to stop the necromancer, while he tries to return safely back to Ivarstead.

Climb the wooden stairs to your left, and head north, then follow the passages towards the quest marker. You'll arrive at a door leading to Shroud Hearth Temple. Enter the room, and you'll see the necromancer, Jakalor.

After you kill him, follow the quest marker to leave the barrow. Then, head southwest into Ivarstead. You'll find Brendar outside The Horker's Tusk Tavern. Talk to him to tell him of the necromancer's death, earning a reward and Brendar's thanks.

"You made it out. That's good to see. What of the necromancer?"

The necromancer is dead.

"Then all of Ivarstead owes you thanks. He could've been the end of this village if left to his own devices. Here, it's not much, but take this as a token of my appreciation."
