Shavali the Befouled

Shavali the Befouled is a corrupted nereid who can be found in the caverns below the Cicatrice ruins. Due to her intimate connection to the oasis, the waters gained healing qualities. However, when the town's survivors locked themselves in the caverns during the Knahaten Flu the waters became tainted with the plague and in turn changed Shavali. Now the waters produce noxious fumes and the corpses of dead rise as Blighted undead.

Quest-Related Events

While you are gathering an Arkay's Lash blossom from the glade to the west of the ruins, Shavali will burst out of the nearby pool.

Shavali the Befouled: "How dare you intrude upon my oasis? Leave this place! Now!"

Before diving back down.

Later on after collecting Nikussha's Research Notes, you will learn that the Argonian's attempts to cure the disease instead tainted the water and the nereid in turn. Iokkas will ask that you kill Shavali to remove the corruption and allow the oasis to begin to heal.

You can then enter the central chamber where Shavali will be floating over a putrid pool filled with bones and bodies.

Shavali the Befouled: "You corrupted me. Changed me. And now … now I am this."

Shavali the Befouled: "Why did you have to come? Why did you make me like this?"

When she notices you, Shavali will immediately attack.

Shavali the Befouled: "No! I won't let anyone corrupt this oasis! Not again!"

Shavali the Befouled: "Why couldn't you leave me be? Monsters! Defilers!"

As she dies, Shavali will have a final question on her lips.

Shavali the Befouled: "I just wanted to heal them. Why … why couldn't I heal them?"
