Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Speak to Urgarlag Chief-bane to get the details of this quest.
- "Moongrave Fane. Trailblazers saw a Dragon crash into the jungles of Southern Elsweyr and followed it to a long abandoned temple crawling with long-toothed cats. Khajiit vampires, actually. Sounds like they're going to have a scaly banquet. Wreck it."
- And if I can handle more than that?
- "Supposedly, those leeches brought down the Dragon with the help of a Dragonguard. Not one of those pretenders with hand-me-down equipment. The real deal.
Give him a taste of Hollowfang blood-alchemy to get his heart thumping before you thump him." - I pledge to seek out the Moongrave Fane and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter the Moongrave Fane dungeon either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to Northern Elsweyr and entering the dungeon there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can achieve the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, the Risen Ruins, Dro'zakar, the Kujo Kethba, Nisaazda, and Grundwulf. With the last boss, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of using the Sangiin Hemo Helot to put the boss in hard mode.
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Urgarlag Chief-bane at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with her to complete the quest:
- I destroyed the Hollowfang Clan and defeated the Dragonguard vampire, Grundwulf.
- "Vampires don't impress me much. I bite harder in bed. Dragonguard vampires that eat Dragons? That's another story.
Maybe I'll have you compare." - I'll take my reward either way. / What's my reward for cleansing Moongrave Fane
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "Well, it's not like you killed the Dragon. But you killed everyone who did kill it, so next best thing. Slaying the Dragonguard and his vampire cohort merits a key. Now go wash the taste of blood out of your mouth with some ale." |
Veteran mode completed | "Turning Moongrave into a graveyard is worthy of reward. Put it toward some silver boot caps for the next time you run roughshod over a bunch of bloodsuckers." |
Veteran Hard Mode completed | "That Hollowfang alchemy got the Dragonguard's blood boiling, eh? Defeating Grundwulf at the height of his bloodlust must've been a glorious battle alright. Gets me flush just thinking about it. Might give you more than a key next time you swing by." |
Notes[edit]
- Prior to Update 41, completing this quest with Normal or Veteran mode would award 1 Undaunted Key, and 2 Keys on Veteran Hard Mode.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
