Online:PlayStation
The purpose of this page is to document some aspects of Elder Scrolls Online that are specific to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro versions of the game. The PS4 version was released on June 9, 2015. The vast majority of gameplay is identical on all platforms (PC/Mac, Xbox One, or PS4): the quests are the same, most glitches are the same, etc. You will need to have signed up to PlayStation Plus to play the game, as this requirement is beyond the control of ZeniMax.
It has been announced that ESO will be releasing on PlayStation 5, and PS4 players will be able to upgrade for free.
Platform Differences[edit]
Add-ons are not available on PS4.
ESO Plus and Crowns must be purchased from the PSN Store.
Playing ESO on PlayStation 4 Pro allows for native 4K resolution, which is not supported on other platforms.
Trophies are available for ESO on PlayStation. These are cross-platform between PS4 and PS5.
Interface Differences[edit]
Although the keyboard and PS4 controller clearly provide very different methods of interacting with the game, most of the controls work the same way.
Patches/Expansions[edit]
It isn't possible to play the game without the latest patch. PS4 patches are developed separately, and are released less frequently than PC patches due to the effort involved in going live on console. On average, there is one console patch per month, compared to two or three for PC/Mac.
The Frisky Scrib and Shock Skin Salamander pets are notable for being platform-exclusive promotional items available only on PS4.
