My Dearest Farvyn,

I know your father is a hard man. I don't suspect that shall ever change. His father ruined the family name with his disastrous adventures, so he grew up wishing for a heritage that once more carried dignity. This is why he expects so much from you.

I think, in time, he will see that he has much to be proud of. With every letter, you show me how much you've learned and how enriching your journey has been. I'm delighted when one of your letters arrives, and I read them to your father every time. Hearing your stories helps me bear how much I miss you, and I can tell it does the same for him.
