Vesper Valente[edit]

You can meet with Fennorian outside the vineyards, who explains he found an unusual invitation to a wine auction on a dangerous vampire. As vampires do not normally drink wine, he felt that he had to investigate. Eventually you and Fennorian will go undercover and attend the wine auction. Fennorian will ask you to mingle to find out more information, and Lady Ursilia is one of the people you can approach.

She will be standing in a corner of the garden by herself, if you speak with her before Fennorian, she seems to recognize him:

"Who's that vampire you came in with? He looks so familiar."

Once you have spoken with Fennorian, Lady Ursilia is one of the people you will need to talk to:

"Another one of my husband's guests? No, you're either an attendant or a servant, I'd wager. Who brought you to my husband's little affair, pray tell?"
I'm here with Master Bogvir.
"Master Bogvir? Is that the name he uses now? You know, he bears a striking resemblance to an old acquaintance of mine. In fact, I'm sure of it.
How is Fennorian and why has he come to Valente Vineyard?"
I'm not sure what you're talking about.
"No? And why don't I believe you? Oh, don't worry. I have no desire to reveal Fennorian's deception to my husband. Not before I learn what's going on here, the same as you.
Be so kind as to let Fennorian know I'd like to speak to him when he's free."
As you wish.

If you try talking to her again:

"I believe we are done here. Let Fennorian know I wish a moment of his time. And tell him it has nothing to do with hurt feelings or a broken heart. I am above such petty concerns."

After you have chatted to various guests, Fennarion will ask you to search the Valente Manor for any documents you can find in Lord Gallio's office. Before you enter the manor, you can talk to Lady Ursilia again:

"Not now, friend of the Bogvir who isn't. I have more important matters to consider than whatever it is that interests you."

Exploring Lord Gallio's office, you can find the Winery Key, Lord Gallio Valente's Journal and Bogvir's Letter. After you have found everything, you will find that someone has caught you snooping:

Lady Ursilia Valente: "You again! What are you doing in my husband's office?"

Speak with her to explain what is happening:

"You and Fennorian. Never in the right place at the right time.
So, did you find what you were looking for? Share it with me and maybe I won't call down to the winery for my husband's army of mercenaries."
Valente is a vampire. His wine makes vampires more powerful, but only when consumed from a mortal.
"Let me see that journal. By the stars! He killed his own father? And he plans to kill me? He's a cretin and a monster!
And yes, pouring wine into people just so you can eat them and gain unnatural power is pretty bad, too. Damn it, I drank the wine!"
You didn't know Lord Gallio Valente was a vampire?
"I suspected something was amiss. Since I arrived, we haven't consummated our marriage and he spends his time down in the winery, locked in his alchemy laboratory with his mercenaries. Plus, he covets my family's fortune.
But a vampire? Makes sense."
So what now?
"This vineyard could be a mother lode in the right hands. My hands, friend of Fennorian, not my husband's.
I assume you're here to stop him? Help Fennorian finish the task and I'll forgive him for the affront he visited upon me and my family."
I need to get this information to Fennorian.

At this, Fennorian will arrive in the room:

Lady Ursilia Valente: "Make sure you do. I have no intent to serve as a wine glass for my husband!"
<Fennorian enters the room.>
Fennorian: "Ursilia. I suppose I owe you an explanation."
Lady Ursilia Valente: "Of course you do, but I don't care. Just talk to your friend and deal with my husband."
Fennorian: "All right, if you say so …."

Speaking with Fennorian, you can explain what you found out and what Lady Ursilia wants him to do. He asks you to go down to the winery to find Lord Gallio's laboratory, while he assists Lady Ursilia by flushing the Valente Vesper wine from her body:

<Fennarion opens up his alchemy kit and begins rummaging through it.>
Fennorian: "Ursilia, before we talk, let me see if I've got anything that will flush the wine from your system."
Lady Ursilia Valente: "I'm not drunk, Fennorian! I only had a glass or two."

You can talk with Lady Ursilia before you leave and ask about her some questions:

"I'm not sure I want to drink anything else offered to me by a vampire, but I suppose Fennorian can be trusted. With this matter at least."
How did you end up married to someone like Lord Gallio Valente?
"It's all about the gold, dear. Do try to keep up.
I had a lot of it and I saw the opportunity this vineyard represented. With the proper management, of course."
Is that all marriage is to you, a business opportunity?
"You'd rather I chase some fool notion regarding romantic love? That's not how I was raised.
Do I really smell irresistible to vampires? I'm not sure I how I feel about that."

Once down in the winery, you come across some imprisoned servants that were used as test subjects. After you assist Fennorian with creating a treatment for them, you head to Lord Gallio's laboratory to destroy his work. Along the way, the vampire himself will try and stop you but fails. Once at the laboratory and mushroom farm, you destroy the vats and burn all the fungi before escaping through a passage.

After you exit the cavern, you will find Lady Ursilia with a group of the surviving workers:

Fennorian: "Ursilia, about your husband …."
Lady Ursilia Valente: "Not now, Fennorian. I have more important matters."
<Lady Ursilia turns her attention back to the workers.>
Lady Ursilia Valente: "As I was saying, I'll compensate double wages for all who remain. With your expertise, we'll revive the traditional methods and be producing excellent wine in no time!"

You can talk to Lady Ursilia before completing speaking to Fennorian to complete the quest:

"I assume that explosion that rocked the vineyard was your doing? You and Fennorian, I suppose. I'll take it that you accomplished what I asked?
Never mind. Speak to Fennorian. I have a business to set right."
About your husband ….
"No, don't say another word. If the Legion comes to investigate, the less I know, the better.
I'll hire extra protection for the grounds, though. Sentry Helvius could use the help, at least until we clear out the rest of those vampires."
So you're going to run the vineyard and winery?
"Why not? I don't need a husband for that, and I have twice the mind for business than Gallio ever did.
Hmm. If you find yourself in possession of a large fortune in the future, come see me. Perhaps I'll be ready to give marriage another go by then."

After you have completed the quest, you can talk to Lady Ursilia and ask her about Fennorian and her future plans:

"I suppose I should thank you. Even Fennorian came through for me this time. My husband's foul operation is finished and his coven—is that really what he called it?—will scatter before long.
Now begins the hard work of restoring this vineyard."
What was Fenn like when you knew him? / What was Fennorian like before he became a vampire?
"Much like he still is. Always a perfect gentleman. Our first moment alone after our families arranged our engagement, I told him to drop any pretense of romantic interest.
Oh, how he blushed! Pity those pale cheeks won't ever blush again."
You were fine with marrying someone you didn't love or who didn't love you?
"Fine with it? I was relieved! In families as wealthy as ours, marriage isn't like some Breton romance novel. It's business. Love never makes for good business.
But I never expected him to just disappear like that. It was rude and hurtful."
Would you have gone through with the marriage if you knew he was a vampire?
"Obviously that change occurred right before the marriage. But probably not. If he hadn't disappeared without a trace, his family would have disowned him. Marrying a pauper would not have been good business.
I am pleased he seems happy, though."
What's next for you, Lady Ursilia?
"A lot of hard work, I imagine. I must retain as many of the competent and knowledgeable vineyard workers as I can. Then we need to destroy any lingering evidence of my husband's experiments.
After that, we can start producing delicious wine again."
You're not worried about word getting out about what happened here?
"People talk. If Fennorian abandoning me taught me anything, it's that everyone loves a scandal. I've gone through enough of that to know such things always turn in my favor. Just wait and see."

In Memory Of[edit]

If you completed the the Valente Vineyards objective, Lady Ursilia will be at the gathering along with Fennorian:

"Now this is a celebration that's more to my liking. Plus, it's good business to get to know some of the other movers and shakers of the Weald. Perhaps I'll even get to make conversation with the count. I'm sure he'll find me captivating!"

Midway through the party, you will be called away to meet with Hermaeus Mora. He reveals that despite your success at having Ithelia leave your reality for good, he will make everyone except you and him forget the Prince of Paths.

Speaking with Lady Ursilia after this will reveal some of the effects of Mora's magic:

"Is there something in the wine? The crowd suddenly seems confused, and I hear whispers that indicate many of them believe they just forgot something important.
No matter. I remember everything! Now, be a dear and introduce me to Count Calantius."
You remember everything?
"Certainly! I remember what a snake my husband was, even before he became a vampire. And I remember what you and Fennorian did to save the Valente Vineyards.
Most of all, I remember why I agreed to come to this party."
And why's that?
"I plan to make lucrative connections with all of the Weald's most important and influential citizens. That's just good business."
Have you forgiven Fennorian for abandoning you when you were betrothed?
"I put that behind me long ago. But don't tell Fennorian. I could use his help to get the vineyards back up and running, and his guilt is an excellent motivator.
Oh, don't worry. I won't take undue advantage of the situation. Much."
