Dialogue[edit]
As you approach the injured man, you may hear him say, "Hail, wayfarer …."
Speak with Khud af-Hadajja, to see what has happened:

- What's the situation?
- "You've seen these vaults, yes? We call them doomvaults. They're some artifice of the Flame-Father, Mehrunes Dagon.
Our hall steward bid my comrade, Morgane, and I explore this one. We expected to face cultists. What we found was a war." - A war? What do you mean?
- "A host of scuttling Mephala-spawn invaded the vault. I don't know how, but I do know why.
They seek to take something from Dagon—a blasphemous device. We can't let either faction possess it, whatever it is. So, we destroy it. Will you help?" - Yes, I'll help you destroy this device.
After you agree to help, you can ask questions:
- "Thank you, wayfarer. I would fight at your side, but I fear one of those beasts poisoned me. I would only get in the way.
My ally, Morgane, carried a sending stone. If you can find her body, we can use the stone to communicate. Onsi guide you." - You're poisoned? Will you be all right? / You said you were poisoned? Will you be all right?
- "Hmph. It will take more than the prick of a Spiderkith's blade to fell Khud af-Hadajja.
Once this work is done, I'll seek out a healer in Gideon. But not before."
- "Hmph. It will take more than the prick of a Spiderkith's blade to fell Khud af-Hadajja.
- What do you know about this device?
- "Very little. It's a weapon, maybe? Or a device for summoning Daedric beasts?
We heard Spiderkith whispering about it—about how powerful it is and how it might aid Mephala in future schemes. They mentioned taking it back to the Skein in pieces." - So, it's not fully assembled yet?
- "I don't think so. We found strange tools littered about—the kind of thing you'd find near a building site.
Once you get inside, we can get a better sense of what exactly is going on and how far they've gotten." - What's it like in there?
- "It's difficult to explain.
Morgane and I expected to find Daedric halls and chambers, but there's much more. Vast caverns that look like they were pulled from Tamriel itself. And … I can't say for certain, but I think we entered another realm." - Another realm?
- "Yes. A canyon of fire and stone. If I didn't know any better, I'd say we entered the realm of Dagon himself.
This doomvault is … it's a place between places. I can't explain it. You'll see what I mean when you go inside."

- What happened to Morgane? / What happened to your partner, Morgane?
- "Killed by Daedra.
We tried to learn all we could about the device, but traveled too far into the vault. A Spider Daedra discovered us as we tried to escape. I smashed the beast's head in, but not before a horde of spiders sucked Morgane bone-dry." - You mentioned she carried a sending stone?
- "Yes. That's what we call them, anyway. They're magic trinkets that let us speak at a distance.
We found a pair of them in an Aldmer crypt back on Summerset Isle. I don't much care for magic, personally, but these stones are too useful to pass up." - How do they work, exactly?
- "Like I said, I'm no mage, but if you grip one of the stones in your palm, you can see the person who holds the other. What's more, you can see what's around them.
If you find Morgane's stone, I can help you investigate the vault."

- "Yes. That's what we call them, anyway. They're magic trinkets that let us speak at a distance.
- "Killed by Daedra.
Once inside, you will need to find the body of Morgane Brousseau who was holding the other speaking stone. Once you have it in hand, a projection of Khud will appear:
- Khud af-Hadajja: "There you are. I'm glad you managed to make that stone work."
- Khud af-Hadajja: "Search the vault for any sign of this machine. If you find anything, use the stone to contact me. Onsi guide you, comrade."
<The projection disappears.>
As he says, you can summon Khud when you find things like machines within the Doomvault. Along the way you will need to fight Dagon's forces along with Mephala's Spiderkith:
The first area of investigation:
- Khud af-Hadajja: "Hmm. The oil leaking from these pipes matches what we found deeper in the ruins. You've picked up the trail, for sure. Keep looking."
The second place is where a machine once stood but appears to have been moved:
- Khud af-Hadajja: "Scrapes in the stone. Those Dagon beasts dragged something out of here in a hurry. Keep going. The machine must be nearby."
The third site to investigate is a massive structure which looks akin to a forge:
- Khud af-Hadajja: "Tall Papa's breeches, what is this place? Some kind of profane forge? We can't let them finish building this thing. Hurry!"
Head deeper into the doomvault find the daedric machine. Along the way, you may encounter Karzikon the Razorsworn, the delve's boss. Eventually, you will find the active machine destroy it and you will hear Merhune Dagon's voice yelling at you. After this, you can leave the doomvault and talk to Khud af-Hadajja who will now be at his camp:
- "Welcome back, comrade. Did you … did you destroy the machine?"
- Yes, I found and destroyed the Daedric device.
- "Good. Good. I couldn't leave until I knew ….
You did well, comrade. Better than Morgane and I, at any rate. You would have liked her, I think. Hmm. Here's your pay. The Fighters Guild, and all of Blackwood, thank you for your efforts."
After completing the quest, you can ask some more questions before you leave:
- "I think I'll just sit here for a bit longer. I'd say we earned a sit-down, eh comrade?"
- Are you all right? You don't look so good.
- "I'm fine, wayfarer. Fine. Just a little winded is all. I'll make my way to Gideon soon."
- Are you sure?
- "Mmm. Yes, I'm sure.
Take care of yourself, comrade. And if anyone asks you what happened here, you tell them that Morgane and Khud af-Hadajja did their duty. Do that for me, all right?"
- "Mmm. Yes, I'm sure.
- Do you have any idea why Mephala wanted Mehrunes Dagon's machine? / I will. Do you have any idea why Mephala wanted Mehrunes Dagon's machine?
- "I couldn't say. Dagon wants to kill us all, right? Grandee Bramia used to … used to tell me stories about great red siege craft dragged by giants with lava for blood.
Never thought Mephala had an interest in conquest, but who knows?" - Do you think this was the only one?
- "Heh. No one ever makes just one of anything.
I hope this was the last of these machines, but you … you need to keep your eyes fixed on this. Don't forget what you saw in there."
- "Heh. No one ever makes just one of anything.

- Have you seen any more of these vaults? / I'll do that. Before I go, have you seen any more of these vaults?
- "Morgane and I are … were … new to Blackwood. This was the only one we encountered, but people in Leyawiin insisted there are more—some craft of the Longhouse Emperors.
If more exist, I hope you do the same to them."
