Quest-Related Events[edit]
When you enter the cave near the entrance, you will find Khafdeed and Mentor Huzbedad argue about what to do about Orpheon's army:
- Khafdeed: "Be patient? While we stand in this cavern, Orpheon's army destroys everything we hold dear!"
- <Mentor Huzbedad notices your arrival.>
- Mentor Huzbedad: "If you think you can fight through the army, take our new friends. But keep Sister Chana safe."
- Mentor Huzbedad: "I will take my own path to the Elder Scroll and protect it until you arrive. Now, come here, Khafdeed."
If you try talking to Khafdeed before Sister Chana, he will say the following:
- "I am Sister Chana's shield. Just because my back is to her, do not think I am not protecting her."
After you have spoken with Sister Chana and agreed to help, you can talk to Khafdeed before proceeding and ask him questions:
- "I hope you wield your weapons as well as they deserve. Orpheon's army swept over us like the crash of the ocean against the rocks of the eastern cliff face. I almost thought they discovered our hidden passageways."
- Tell me about the Hel Hetu.
- "There is day and there is night. Sand and shore. Sword-singers and Hel Netu.
The best way to avoid the desert heat is to live in the ocean. We win every fight that never was. But we know how to best the Sword-singers, too." - You know how to beat the Sword-singers?
- "Careful footwork, mastery in a variety of weapons, and a sturdy understanding of how to redirect their power.
Still, we are too few to withstand Orpheon's forces. Our expertise crumbled under their boots." - Have you always lived on Lep Seclusa?
- "We have for my entire life and we think of this island as our ancestral home. But in honesty, that is not the truth. We are from somewhere far over the sand dunes.
The sea breeze suits me. I do not long for the desert or what it holds."

- There are hidden passages in this island? Where do they lead?
- "Depends on which door you open. I assume Mentor Huzbedad will take several that climb the rocky cliff faces and avoid detection that way.
We will take a more well-known path to the monastery." - Why are there many tunnels and passageways here?
- "To keep us safe when the sea swells or the sun beats down too hotly. They protect us and keep us hidden.
I hope my family and friends took shelter when the attack began. When this is over, we will have to search each crevice for wounded."

- Have you always been Sister Chana's protector?
- "No. I do not often interact with the Moth Priests. But Mentor Huzbedad tasked me with her safety. I will not fail.
I just wish I could fight for my home. Ignoring the sounds of destruction was one of the hardest things I had to do."
- "No. I do not often interact with the Moth Priests. But Mentor Huzbedad tasked me with her safety. I will not fail.
When you proceed further into the tunnels and clear out the attackers in the cavern, Sister Chana and Khafdeed will catch up to you and tend to the survivors Hushiah and Mubanat:
- Khafdeed: "We'll take a passage and meet up with you later. Sister Chana, help me with these survivors."
As you make your way through the monastery rooms, you will occasionally be attacked by Garvin the Tracker and when you reach him Sister Chana and Khafdeed will arrive beside you:
- Khafdeed: "He's the dog who sniffed our island out. The tracker who led Orpheon's army here."
- Sister Chana Nirine: "There's something familiar about his magic. I can help."
- Khafdeed: "Help from up here. I can protect you from attacks or uneven terrain. Not both."
Speaking with Khafdeed before fighting Garvin:
- ""I must see to it that Sister Chana comes to no harm. Garvin is a tracker, you will not evade his gaze for long. But you can defeat him. So do it."
