Quest-Related Events[edit]

As you approach Hilgrim and Genalda, you will overhear Genalda berating Hilgrim:

Genalda Ervine: "I can't believe you drank our entire stock!"
Hilgrim: "Me? Where's your proof?"
Hilgrim: "Just because I—hic—woke up in a pile of bottles doesn't mean I'm guilty! Those could have been—hic—gotten there in any number of ways!"

If you speak with Hilgrim before starting the quest:

"Ugh, my head. Every time I move, it feels like someone's putting my skull through a grindstone.
What happened last night?"

When you speak with Genalda, you will learn that the pair work together to brew drinks. Their latest creation was great, but Hilgrim drank it all and Genalda wants you to find ingredients around High Isle to recreate it. You can speak with Hilgrim before you leave and ask him some questions:

"The last batch of our newest drink was groundbreaking. Guaranteed to be a hit! We're not totally sure who drank the entire stock, but it's been suggested—hic—that it might have been me.
But now you're here! Thanks for agreeing to help."
You don't remember drinking the entire stock?
"I honestly don't remember much about last night. Genalda and I always taste test our new creations, but I must have gotten a little carried away. Clearly, we did an excellent job crafting a delicious drink.
Maybe too delicious, heh."
Do you do this often?
"What? No! You think Genalda would put up with me if I made a habit out of drinking our livelihoods away? She's a patient woman, but not that patient.
No, I think our newest concoction was just particularly tempting. Or potent. Or both."
You and Genalda are partners?
"Yes! In both drink making and in life! Isn't she lovely? The way the light reflects off her hair, her perfect frown, the way she's narrowing her eyes at me now—I don't know what she sees in me, but I'm grateful. And perhaps a little drunk."
How did the two of you get into the business of drink making?
"It's a wonderful story! A mutual enthusiasm for libations, two brilliant minds, two fates intertwined, a love so passionate it threatens to engulf all of Tamriel as we bring drinks to the thirsty and curious! It's … wait, what are we talking about?"

After accepting The Intoxicating Mix from Genalda Ervine he will shout to you:

Hilgrim: "Good luck! You're my hero!"

Once you have collected the ingredients, you can return to the pair, Hilgrim will point you out to Genalda:

Hilgrim: "Look, Genalda! They're back! Friend, give my lovely partner the ingredients!"

If you talk to Hilgrim before handing over the items:

"You were successful, weren't you? Good! I was beginning to worry … I nearly sobered up while you were gone. The horror!
Quickly, give the ingredients to Genalda!"

When you give the ingredients to Genalda and complete the quest, she will create a new sample:

Genalda Ervine: "Give me a moment to mix up just a little to test."
<Genalda combines the ingredients with a mortar and pestle.>
Genalda Ervine: "Here, Hilgrim, give this a try. You're already drunk."
<Hilgrim takes a swig.>
Hilgrim: "Hmm, maybe a bit more spice?"
<He then falls down, blackout drunk.>
Genalda Ervine: "Perfect. That'll do nicely."

Dialogue[edit]

After the quest is completed, Hilgrim and Genalda can later be found down on the docks. You can speak with Hilgrim:

"It's … incredible. My mouth is bursting with flavor. The dock is spinning. You're spinning! Genalda's spinning. Ah, she's so pretty.
Heh, what a wonderful drink."
Are you all right?
"I'm divine, my blurry friend. Just fine! Genalda and I are going to sell our incredible drink to the rich and become famous! I've always wanted to be famous. Hilgrim and Genalda the innovators! The saviors of taste! The—hic— heroes of liquid."
