While helping Mirri Elendis find the Dwarf Puzzle Cube that was stolen from her grandfather, a lead on the thief will lead you to Vulkhel Guard to search for Onimiril. As you approach the guild hall, you can overhear Caelia Merulin chastise Takaano:

Takaano: "But Master Onimiril is gone now and—"

Caelia Merulin: "Onimiril's departure is no excuse. You two are mages of the guild first. I expect to see you both in my office shortly."
