Avys Areleth

Avys Areleth is a High Elf member of the Blackcaster Mages Guild found in the city of Elinhir. He is one of Arch-Mage Yamanu-ko's apprentices. He has no unique dialogue and specializes in summoning clannfear.

Skills and Abilities

He uses all of the chillfiend class abilities, as well as two unique abilities:

Ice Arrow

A basic ranged attack that does minor frost damage.

Summon Ice Barrier

Avys Areleth summons an Ice Barrier that absorbs projectiles fired at it until destroyed. The player should move so that there is a clear line of sight between themselves and Avys Areleth.

Winter's Reach

Avys Areleth releases an icy whirlwind in the direction he is facing. This whirlwind does moderate frost damage and roots all targets that it hits. Root effect passes through block, and can be escaped by roll dodging. This attack can be interrupted to stagger Avys Areleth.

Void

Avys Areleth summons a purple orb from the sky that explodes when it hits the ground splitting into three projectiles dealing moderate magic damage. This skill then sends out magic AoEs across the floor called Void Bursts. This attack can be interrupted to stagger Avys Areleth.

Void Burst

These AoEs are released after Void lands, the smaller AoEs deal moderate magic damage.

Dampen Magic

Avys Areleth summons a damage shield that absorbs a small amount of damage.

Strangling Vines/Enfeebling Mist

Poisonous areas periodically appear in the arena which deal minor poison damage and stuns targets hit after a very short delay.

Summon Clannfear

Avys Areleth summons three Clannfear to fight for him. (Bugged)

Quest-Related Events

During the quest, you must destroy the east and west tower magicka foci. Avys guards the focus in the eastern tower. He is standing right in front of it, so it is nearly impossible to destroy it without killing him.

Notes

• Despite being an Altmer, Avys has a Dunmer name.

Bug

• A bug causes the additional clannfear he is meant to be summoning to fail to appear in the room with him. The red dots for them appear in the HUD compass but they don't appear physically.
