Fix to feeding animation?[edit]

Recently, I used the console to re-obtain vampirism after completing the cure quest. I noticed the bugs section of the article says that sometimes the feeding animation isn't displayed, and that the player will just stand still. However, for me it isn't sometimes, it's all the time. Is ther some other variable I need to edit in the console to fix this, other than PCVampire and vampire.hasdisease? This wouldn't be a problem if it only happened every so often, but that's not the case here. Schiffy 15:46, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

My Mommy Says I'm a Good Boy![edit]

If you are a vampire, can you still go to altars and recieve blessings as long as your infamy is 0? I'm a little confused on that.99.52.200.110 23:54, 14 November 2012 (GMT)

I play as a 'good' character who contracted vampirism accidentally and I can confirm this. After completing Azura's quest, the message "You have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia" never showed (possibly due to a bug), and I didn't realize I had it until the vampirism fully took form. As long as you don't do anything that would normally get you a bounty and don't get caught while sneaking into people's homes, your infamy will stay at 0 and you can keep praying at temples. Vampirism NO[edit]

I never really got the disease. I keep getting the massage "You have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia". So I can't really be a vampire. Any fixes? Iancee (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2013 (GMT)

I would guess that you have contracted the disease before, didn't notice it, and cured it in some way. That would render you unable to be a vampire I believe. I could be wrong though. --Ad intellige (talk) 22:15, 1 May 2013 (GMT)
Are you waiting 3 days for it to take full effect? There is no immediate sign, other than the message, that you have contracted it. --Xyzzy Talk 22:09, 6 May 2013 (GMT)
I waited for 3 days then slept and I did not get a dream.Iancee (talk) 21:17, 9 May 2013 (GMT)
It's been a long time since I played Oblivion, but it seems like you had to sleep 3 times to finally become a vampire, not just wait 3 days then sleep. I could be wrong, though. It's probably worth a try at this point. --Xyzzy Talk 02:11, 10 May 2013 (GMT)

() Xyzzy's right, you have to sleep 3 times. --Morrolan (talk) 20:40, 4 October 2013 (GMT)

I found my problem. I had the console command tgm (Toggle God Mode) on.Iancee (talk) 01:46, 26 November 2014 (GMT)

Female Vampires[edit]

This article is kind of vague when it comes to the whole fixing female vampirism gender. My female character just got vampirism and I've noticed that her face is looking a lot more masculine(as well as gross and vampiry) which is incredibly hard to look at on her female body. So, since I haven't cured it yet, I'm not sure if the game has somehow changed the gender of her face, and this article kind of reinforces that idea through the whole fixing it through the console commands. I'm wondering if this is something that always happens to female characters when they get vampirism and if her face will not go back to the way I originally designed it once I cure her. I'm also wondering if it's something that can be fixed through means other than console commands. Also, I'd like to know if it's somehow exclusive to certain versions (I'm playing the GOTY edition for 360). If someone could edit the article to make it more specific about that whole issue I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise, you could just answer me here, I suppose. Thanks! — Unsigned comment by 192.122.237.252 (talk) at 20:23 on 4 October 2013

I, too, have GOTY Oblivion for the 360. I never really got the whole masculine thing, to me Oblivion vampires just look plain ugly, not specifically one gender or the other. What race is your character? --Morrolan (talk) 20:35, 4 October 2013 (GMT)

Vampire Quests?[edit]

I was reading the vampirism page, and noticed that it mentions that there are a few quests that you can only do as a vampire. However, I didn't see any mention of what those quests are (other than the one to cure yourself). Does anyone know what those quests are, or whether the page was in error? Also, either way, shouldn't the main page be changed to include the information?Bookwyrm1357 (talk) 20:21, 30 October 2013 (GMT)

I updated the page with what I assumed was meant by the editor who added that. There are plenty of quests related to vampirism, if only tangentially. I assumed the editor was referring to the ones involving your own vampirism, Darkness Eternal and Vampire Cure. Creating a proper quest list for quests related to vampires and vampirism for this page should still be done, however. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:43, 30 October 2013 (GMT)

Vampirism level timing bug?[edit]

According to the article, your vampirism level is determined by the time since your last feeding. However, I have on numerous occasions been advanced to 50% in far less than 24 hours since last feeding.

Just recently, I was in Skingrad while at 50%, and I waited until around 4-5am to break into a house to feed (I always try to feed as close to sunrise as possible to avoid 'wasting' night hours). My level reduced to 25 as expected. Then I went outside and waited until about 8am for one of Glarthir's targets to leave their house. I waited in real-time until around 9am, and they still weren't out, so I fast-waited another hour. At that point, my vampirism went back up to 50, only 6 hours since last feeding. I feel as though this happens pretty often, and also it seems sometimes I go days without feeding with no advancement.

I wonder if it has to do with the number of times you wait/travel/sleep. I should also mention than this is on the bug-infested PS3 GOTY edition. Not sure if it's related, but I have the feed animation bug as well.

Dbbolton (talk) 08:14, 17 December 2014 (GMT)

Just happened again. I fed on the orc in the Chorrol Fighters Guild basement at 4:53am, went upstairs, waited for 3 hours, and got the dream dialog. So my vampirism increased from 25 to 50 within 4 hours of feeding. I'll go ahead and add this to the bugs section with a vn tag. Please verify if you have experienced this too. Vampire worth it?[edit]

I'm playing Oblivion trying to make the most powerful character. It seems like the attribute bonuses from being a vampire can make it so you're way stronger. — Unsigned comment by Austings (talkcontribs) at 20:29 on 6 August 2020

You may also lose your eyebrows and facial hair.[edit]

Yeah, mine gained facial hair. Female Redguard to be specific. Rather, grayness on the "beard" area but nowhere else. — Unsigned comment by MidbossVyers (talkcontribs) at 22:30 on 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Sun Damage[edit]

With the "Sun Damage" Problem does this only apply to Vampirism Sun Damage or Any Sun Damage? I didnt find the same thing mentioning it under "Sun Damage" So I am slightly Confused on how it works. but I am more interested in how it causes the game to crash and save no longer be usable
